A series of photos allegedly showing Iranian Aras high mobility multipurpose military vehicles in Syria has appeared online. Previously, such vehicles were received by the Popular Mobilization Units during an active phase of the anti-ISIS campaign in Iraq. Now, it looks that Iran has started supplying them to Syrian government forces.
cool) iranian Hummer))
Whats the name of these Iranian Humvees?
It can’t be an Iranian Humvee. It’s not gold plated and has no custom Gucci accessories.
cookie for the reference. ;)
I think their are call Pumpvees because their have big action pumpers behind.
It is (as the article says) Aras (a river in NW Iran which forms the border between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan. Aras tactical high mobility multipurpose military vehicle. Quite a mouthful.
It is not comparable to Humvee at all, it’s much smaller and weaker but does the intended job. It uses the platform and chassis of Toyota F 4.5 (which was used intensively by Iranian military).
Thanks for the brand name, still can’t find out much about them. The J45’s have almost cult status here in Oz, great off road, and reliable as a brick. FJ45 petrol, HJ45 diesel, that applies to all landcruiser models.
I havent seen any hummer “utes” and OZ is the place for off road utility vehicles, but ive seen shed loads of toyota ones, proof to me that in the real world toyota and toyota based vehicles are to of the pile.
Id go for toyota time and again before pretty much any U.S. off road vehicle, ive owned landrovers and toyota hilux, ive driven hummer a few times also suzuki rhino, and ive also been in the lada 4×4 ,all off and on road, and i would put the hummer on the very very bottom of my list of wanting any of them, the toyota would be top ,just, but id have the landrover, i also think id look at this Aras before id go look at the hummer, just my 10 pence worth there!
Much better looking than the Hummers
Hummers are pretty hopeless really, and the Humvee is much the same. A Humvee is a huge vehicle, with a huge turning circle, most can only handle knee deep water, and they are automatic transmission. That’s why Americas mercenaries, ISIS al Qaeda etc use Toyota’s, which are far more capable off road, and most importantly, reliable.
Good :) Also the terrorists are sharing equipment among themselves too, as is expected of them (read the link below): https://muraselon.com/en/2018/01/pictures-faylaq-al-sham-uses-turkish-military-vehicles-syrian-army/
Good very beautiful battlefield armour cars.
I’m waiting for the “reviews” of this vehicle (based solely on the pics ofcourse) to tell us how rubbish this is, as it’s usually done with Iranian products, from cars to guns and airplanes.
Some times ago, an “Iranian” TV network based in the UK (you guessed it right, Jewish owned) broadcasted a program after a month or so of announcing, about “test and evaluation” of the Iranian car, Samand. Long story short, they apparently tested it in Thatcham test center (?) without a control group to compare and without showing any numbers, but they gave it 1 out of 5 stars and said it’s a very crappy car that passes no standard and endangers it’s riders.
A question popped in my mind: If that’s such a rubbish car that kills you if you look at it, how could they import it into the UK in the first place? (it’s exported to 21 countries I think, nowhere fancy or inside EU) AFAIK, you need to get vehicle approval to show your vehicle meets safety and environmental standards in order to import it into UK. Can anyone from the UK tell us if it can be done without it?
The thing is you can’t enter the UK market due to import restrictions without passing all the requirements of the UK govt.
For me it’s simple. Many Iranian made weapons and military products aren’t as “advanced” as their peers but they seem to be getting the job done (which is amazing on it’s own right).
Iran’s drone work and can both track and kill moving and stationary targets, Irans missiles are numerous, powerful and accurate within reason, Irans ATGM (which are now just multipurpose weapons at this point) all work as intended. This vehicle just like the Safir multipurpose jeep and other mass produced vehicles aren’t a difficult technology to master or produce.
I personally think the Syrian Civil-War and War against Jihadi groups (of which there are many), Iran has gotten valuable on the field test data back and has refined many of the weapon systems they supplied to different militias like PMU, Hezbollah (both Iraqi and Lebanese). You can only make a weapon better.
I’m quite interested in 4wds, and thought I would look up the specs on these things. No luck, the western censorship with regard to Iran is like an iron curtain.
Those vehicles look great! I’d love to own/buy a non-military version of those, along with the 4×4 urban 5 door LADA :D
good luck everytime you have to fill the gas tank..
lol, why?
:D because of the cost of gasoline and diesel and the fuel consumption of those cars
Its the front grille thats hummveeish ,if its toyota based it will leave hummvee literally in the dust.
