Syrian Govt, Militants Relaunch Talks Over Peaceful Settlement In Wadi Barada

Support SouthFront

Representatives of the Syrian government and militant groups operating in the Wadi Barada area northwest of Damascus have relaunched talks in order to find a peaceful settlement in the area.

The initial meeting on the topic took place in the village of Dayr Qanoon yesterday.

If the deal is reached, the ceasefire will be implemented in the area and militants and their families will get an opportunity to withdraw from Wadi Barada to Idlib. If militants and their families decide to stay in Wadi Barada, they will be pardoned by the government. In turn, the Syrian army and the National Defense Foces (NDF) will get control over the rest of the militant-held pocket.

We recall previous attempts to impose a ceasefire in Wadi Barada have been sabotaged by the so-called “opposition”. This time the militants’ military situation is much worse. This fact icreases chances to reach a peaceful solution.

You wonder what they had hoped to achieve by sabotaging the talks.

Their patrons are paying them to fight against the government.

I realize Damascus is in dire need of its water , but wonder at any mercy for these dishonorable dogs who killed the previous negotiator . Wonder if the White Helmets are still supporting these Al Nusra ?
