According to Reuters, terrorists offered to give the bodies of Russians in exchange for the release of prisoners held in Syrian government jails and by Damascus’s Lebanese Shi’ite ally Hezbollah in Lebanon. The names and number of people, to be exchanged, were not specified.
The group also demanded an end to the Aleppo siege set by the Syrian army and its allies, and for the delivery of significant amounts of humanitarian aid to people living in besieged areas, Reuters reported.
The statement was accompanied by the documents, which are allegedly identity cards belonging to crew members of the downed Mi-8.
The Russian and Syrian sides still have not given any comments.
The Russia’s military-transport helicopter Mi-8 was shot down in Idlib province on August 1, while it was making the way back to Russia’s main air base in the western province of Latakia after delivering humanitarian aid to the city of Aleppo.
