New Syrian 'Opposition Group' Demands Exchange for Bodies of Russian Downed Mi-8's Crew

A previously unknown Syrian group said on August 4 that it had the bodies of the Russian military, who died in the crash of the Mi-8, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The group, calling itself General Foundation for Prisoners’ Affairs, still has not appeared in the information space.

According to Reuters, terrorists offered to give the bodies of Russians in exchange for the release of prisoners held in Syrian government jails and by Damascus’s Lebanese Shi’ite ally Hezbollah in Lebanon. The names and number of people, to be exchanged, were not specified.

The group also demanded an end to the Aleppo siege set by the Syrian army and its allies, and for the delivery of significant amounts of humanitarian aid to people living in besieged areas, Reuters reported.

The statement was accompanied by the documents, which are allegedly identity cards belonging to crew members of the downed Mi-8.

The Russian and Syrian sides still have not given any comments.

The Russia’s military-transport helicopter Mi-8 was shot down in Idlib province on August 1, while it was making the way back to Russia’s main air base in the western province of Latakia after delivering humanitarian aid to the city of Aleppo. There were three crew members and two officers of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria on the board.

The Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the Russian General Staff, Sergei Rudskoy, said earlier that the helicopter was shot down from the ground over the area under the control of the terrorist group Al-Nusra Dzhebhat and ‘moderate opposition’ units.

“The names and number of people, to be exchanged, were not specified.” Now this is the list to acquire but not for release!

Russians, have you seen ‘Dogville’ by Lars von Trier? Then you know what should be done with them – they must be burnt to the ground.
