Syrian Helicopters Target Militant Positions In Northern Lattakia

Illustrative image

Helicopters of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) have carried out a new series of airstrikes on militants’ positions in the northern Lattakia countryside.

Oppositions activists said that dozens of airstrikes targeted the strategic town of Kabani and nearby positions in the morning of October 4.

The SyAAF resumed its operations in the region a day earlier, after halting them for 24 hours for unknown reasons.

The airstrikes are reportedly targeting fortifications, such as berms, tunnels and trenches, being built by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other al-Qaeda-affiliated groups in northern Lattakia. Most of the fortifications are located around Kabani.

In the last few months, HTS and its allies launched many rockets and drones from Kabani at Russia’s Hmeimim airbase and civilian areas on the Syrian coast.

Kabani is the gateway to the Al Ghaab Plain and by all appearances the Key-stone of Yanki/Jihadi resistance. Once cracked I would expect HTS and their Headchopping Vermin to flee like the rats they are. However, the SAA and its allies have a hard task ahead, hence their continued artillery and air attacks on this pivotal location before sending in their crack units like the Tigers and the RG Commandos (103rd Brigade). By all accounts the area is a labyrinth of tunnels, bunkers, arsenals and field hospitals. Need to unleash TOS thermobaric rockets to clean the place out. Rats should be fried in situ……….

Some new Russian weapons need to be tested there.

Turkey basically ‘gave’ Jish al Shugur to the TIP (Uighurs), who were encouraged to transit Turkey from China with their families to fight Assad. They are settled there (on stolen land and farms) and have nowhere else to go. TIP will fight to the death for their Jish al Shugur war booty, and Kabani is the key. Once Kabani falls, the SAA rolls across Al Ghaab to retake Jish al Shugur. Expect the western propaganda machine to focus on the unfolding Uighur humanitarian catastrophe rather than the reason why they’re there: homes, land and farms stolen from dead or displaced Syrians.

Maybe the US will step up and just ‘give’ Jish al Shugur to the Uighurs, because we’re nice guys like that.

Zionism = EVIL

It is good to see the refurbished SyAAF attack helo fleet in action against the terrorists. The Hinds and Gazelle are doing the heavy lifting and are operating very effectively in the eastern Euphrates and Idlib. Here are two Gazelle’s with HOT missiles and the first one is sporting a brand new engine after being refurbished by Iranian engineers at Mezzeh airbase. The ECM systems on both Hinds and Gazelle have made them quite safe and not one has been lost in over 3 months of heavy operations.

ECM is a defensive system? How does it work?

Zionism = EVIL

I will give a simple engineer’s version of a ECM on a helo, which works pretty much same as on fixed wing aircraft. Generally modern helicopters have a chaff/hot flares to confuse manppads (shoulder fired SAM) and electronic countermeasures threat analysis system that gathers, stores, and processes information on detected signals being emitted by sources not attributed to friendly systems in continuous, impulse, and quasi-continuous modes.Then they distort the homing frequencies of the incoming manpad or short range SAM system. If you see additional antenna on the fuselage or below the tail rotor of a helicopter then it means it has an active ECM on board. Pay attention to the tail section of the Gazelle with a shark fin antenna. Russian and Iranians have perfected the electronic countermeasures based on real threats the helos have faced with mostly Americunt, Brit and Russian/Chinese manpads the CIA and Turkeys have supplied the headchoppers and some were captured from SAA bases like older SA-7/16, but their battery life and electronics would have been kaput due to age, so not very effective.

Russians are very good in electronic jamming systems and the Rychag-AV warfare system first seen in Syria is an active ECM which even in an automatic mode,makes decisions about suppression of those signals from SAMs that were rendered as “dangerous threats,”either emanating from the ground or air, for which it can form a jamming pattern in different frequencies and directions.Electric power available is distributed between emitting channels in an optimal way to ensure sufficient jamming. A database stored on the helicopter is interconnected via a protected datalink with ground stations to exchange IFF information on newly detected signals classified as those belonging to hostile systems and store them into memory for future SAM deflection. Hope this helps in your understanding.
