On September 23, seven terrorists of ISIS were killed in the southern Syrian governorate of Daraa as a result of a successful raid by the Syrian intelligence.
A security source told the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency that the terrorists were killed when intelligence officers raided a hideout of ISIS in a farm located near the town of Jasim in the western countryside of Daraa. Before being eliminated, the terrorists showed fierce resistance and were able to kill a local pro-government fighter who was taking part in the raid alongside intelligence officers.
The Syrian military and intelligence deployed a large force around Jasim late on August, imposing a partial siege on the town where a number of ISIS terrorist, including senior leaders of the terrorist group, are reportedly taking shelter.
The raid in Jasim is the most recent in a series of successful counter-terrorism operations by the Syrian military and intelligence in the western countryside of Daraa.
On August 9, Abu Salem al-Iraqi, the general leader of ISIS in Syria’s southern region, was killed in a special operation that took place in the town of Adwan. Later on August 15, Abu Omar al-Jababi, the terrorist group’s top military leader in the southern region, was killed in a similar operation in the town of Tafas. On September 5, Abu Qassem al-Aqrabawi, the group’s chief of assassinations in the region, was killed inside his hideout in the town of al-Yadudah as a result of a successful operation.
The Syrian military and intelligence will likely mount more pressure on those sheltering ISIS terrorists in Jasim after the successful raid, which proved without a doubt that the terrorist group is present and active in the town.
