On March 16, fighters of the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF) repelled a new attack by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on their positions in the village of Blnta in the western Aleppo countryside, the SLF-linked news agency Midad Press reported. The media outlet said that SLF fighters had killed at least four HTS fighters and had destroyed a T-72AV battle tank belonging to HTS.

HTS repelled a large attack by the SLF on its positions in the villages of Khan al-Sabil, Maasaran and Kafr Battikh in southern Idlib on March 15. An official in HTS revealed that the SLF had used several battle tanks and armored vehicles in the failed attack.

The HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that HTS fighters had  captured four fighters of HTS and a heavy machinegun during the clashes around these three villages.

The western Aleppo countryside and the southern Idlib countryside are the main two fronts in the ongoing “war of abolition” between HTS and the SLF. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), over 330 militants and civilians have been killed since the beginning of this “war” on February 19.

Great news, HTS will disappear from the face of Earth sooner or later, and they know it. Are Turkey -USA going to help them ? We will see.

Mortal

HTS (al Qaeda) is US/KSA sponsored, not from Turkey/Qatar axis. These are the main state factors of intra jihadi war going on right now.

Very good, less headchoppers for the SAA to deal with.

I am very disappointed these jihadis should start a full scale war with each other not these small clashes

Smaug

Often they are too busy fighting each other.

T-72A … where did Syrians get those ? V is pretty much like T-80BV, but there is no official designation. Late cold war export T-72s were T-72M1, the latest of warsaw pact production, including soviet exports. Then there was an even more modern T-72 export variant called T-72S. A variant was strictly for Soviet own needs. T-72M1 was almost equivalent to T-72A obr 1981.(export variant number 6-7) T-72S was basically upgraded M1 with reactive armor as base equipment. (export variant number 8)

Newer T-72 sold by Russia as export seem to be based off T-72B series instead of very old T-72 base. There is no T-72A that Russia sold to Syria, they could give some storage tanks for possibly, free.

Syria was a Soviet ally during the Ba’athist period, the USSR supplied them with many tanks including some of the most modern at the time. During this war many Rebel groups used captured/stolen/black market weapons that are easily acquired in a security vacuum. I don’t know where they got this particular Russian tank but it within believability that they have it.

You can call me Al

I know it is Friday and the wine if flowing, but I don’t get “The HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that HTS fighters had captured four fighters of HTS and a heavy machinegun during the clashes around these three villages.”…..is there a small mistake here ?

Typo Jabaht Tahrir al Souriya or SLF , need to be careful with HTS and JTS very close by one letter but always far apart on who leads them.
