A MiG-23 fighter jet belonging to the Syrian Arab Air Force has reportedly crashed in east Qalamoun near the Syrian capital, Damascus, after carrying out air raids in the area.

Report the pilot was rescued. Syria has lost Mig 23s to combat…attrition from part failure. Some were damaged or destroyed when airbase were overrun….some were derelict. Having over 100 of this airframe in various class and upgrade…Syrian Mig 23s will Continue on…

2016 has been costly with loss of aircraft/helicopters. ……and pilots. Syrian and Russian maintenance techs working in challenging conditions and circumstances have been amazing for keeping SAAF high sortie rate. There are numerous frames for several classes to obtain spare parts Frame condition and engine components are the concern. Losses of upgraded Mig 23s and Su 24 as per their targeting ability for munitions.

The Syrian pilots know flying near the deck is increase risk. …yet they do … To make the mission count. Brave Men.
