The Syrian Armed Forces are deploying additional Russian-made Pantsir-S1 combined short to medium range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery weapon systems to the areas in southern and eastern Syria, according to pro-government sources.
The Hezbollah media wing in Syria claimed on June 12 that additional Pantsir-S1 systems had been deployed in the area near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights [most likely in the province of Daraa] to strengthen air-defense capabilities of the government forces in the area.
On June 11, reports also appeared that additional Pantsir-S1 systems were set to be deployed in the province of Deir Ezzor where tensions are steadily growing between government forces and the US-led coalition.
This week the Russian Defense Ministry has once again accused the US-led coalition and its proxies of preparing provocations with chemical weapons to blame the Syrian government and to set a pretext for attacking the government’s facilities in Syria.

Wahhabism and Salafism are not that popular nor numerous in the Sunni jurisprudence part of the Islamic world as you may assume. They are actually a fringe grouping, that are effectively becoming passe and irrelevant as of the last years.
Remember, there are about 1.3 billion Muslims, with about 1 billion what you would call Sunni (I am one, but I don’t differentiate) and as the Islamic world is alienating them, Saudia Arabia is declining as a major regional Muslim player. It has been ousted from its supposed inherent role as the custodian of Islam, by Iran, which offers a better civilizational model for Muslims, whatever school of thought they happen to be, Sunni, Shia, Sufi etc.

Its simple, no need for S – 300’s and all that . If, and when Israel strikes Syria, Syria will respond with ballistic missiles like the last time Israel attacked Syria. Last time Syria struck military facilities of the IDF in the Golan, maybe next time the strikes will be in Israel proper. This is the language Israel understands.

So when Syrian Arab Army missile units launched 55 missiles at the IDF occupiers in Golan, and threatened Israel proper, including around Tel-Aviv, a message conveyed to the Israeli’s from Syria by way of Putin, Israel has understood that the conflict has escalated to a higher level. So that’s why the Israeli air force has been dormant. Up until that point, the Israeli’s had underestimated Syria’s reach, and capability to do damage.
