The Syrian military has deployed a new batch of reinforcements, including infantry and battle tanks, to the frontline in the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zone.
According to pro-government sources, these reinforcements will take part in the ongoing Syrian Army offensive in northwestern Hama and southern Idlib.

After notable gains during the weekend, government forces slowed down their advance on positions of militants. Pro-government sources speculate that the Syrian Army and its allies are preparing for a push to capture the key town of Kafr Zita and cut off the rest of supply lines to the key militant stronghold of Lataminah.
Looks like a very disciplined army. I don’t know what would happen if they had to face a Bedouin camel charge
Well at least they are not surrendering like the US military is doing in Afghanistan. How does that work telling the world they defeated the Taliban but now working out a surrender policy so they can withdraw pretending they won. Oh by the way the Taliban are still a bunch of a..holes and not thrilled at the prospect of them taking over Afghanistan again. That will no doubt increase problems in Tajikistan , Kyrgyzstan , Uzbekistan and maybe even as far as Kazakhstan as it was before the US invasion from the north. All that stood between them and total control was the Lion of the North Ahmad Shah Massoud who was assassinated by a gun in a TV camera a few days before 9/11 changed everything.

Except the Taliban are mostly Pashtun, native to Afghanistan (and Pakistan). Never had any – like ZERO – interest in stirring up shit anywhere else. They want foreign assholes and their corrupt puppet governments (US and current fake Afghani ‘government’) to get the fuck out of Afghanistan. That’s it. They don’t give a crap about any neighboring ‘stans – except maybe to keep those crazies out of Afghanistan. Taliban are about as repressive as their neighbors, and certainly less repressive than Saudis, UAE, Qatar or Bahrain. If the Taliban had a shit-ton of oil and were rich, we would have been there kissing their ass all this time instead of killing them.
There was an insurgent war going on mostly in Kyrgyzstan where over winter they would retreat into Tajikistan and return in the spring.All the countries mention were involved together fighting against them with America, Britain and France based mostly in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan which is certainly one of the most despotic countries in the world. With the Taliban advancing north there was a fear that would assist the insurgents into southern Uzbekistan spreading the conflict. Very little was ever mentioned about the goings on here. The Yanks had airbases in Uzbekizstan which the used too attack the Taliban. Thought it was amusing they said that they made an agreement too create a base there when they had been there for a few years already. Agree it is their country and up to the various factions to sort it out. Last time the others were too busy fighting each other and the Taliban walked in and took over.
Agree about Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (and I’ll toss in their mutual hatred for Uzbekis), but the Taliban are not involved and mostly don’t care. ‘Widespread instability’ is a regional problem, an American puppet regime in Afghanistan won’t fix that.Neither will a Taliban-led government. Sounds like something they have to work out for themselves.
The American and Brit oil companies seeking to cash in on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan’s gas are the motives for propping up their respective despotic regimes. That may or may not be fueling the local insurgencies, but it’s certainly not helping matters there. Our military presence or political support give a marginal illusion of stability when, in fact, we’re simply propagating regimes in two shithole nations and their gangster leaders.
I would bet that US airbase K2 in Uzbekistan (closed 2005) was considered a gold mine for the already well-bribed leaders. Not sure what the rent was there, but the regime in Kyrgyzstan jacked up U.S. rent for Manas to $200 million in 2009 (we abandoned it in 2014). With that kind of cash, the host governments had every incentive to keep their internal conflicts well away from the U.S. tennants. The air bases and capitals would have appeared stable to the brain-dead U.S/UK diplomats.
The whole place is a disaster for outsiders – cash buys you a bit of loyalty from the locals for a limited time. US (and UK) leaders don’t get that. ‘Patriotic’ Afghans fighting for ‘their’ country? How absurd and ignorant. And twice over for the neighboring ‘stans.
The US is still trying to Win the Cold War, Stop the Silk Road, Establish bases for a War on Iran, and (the usual) help our oligarchs steal resources. ‘Helping the people’ will never be compatible with the above goals, no matter how hard USAID or neocons try to whitewash our ‘good intentions’.

Now, Qatar is a 21 century absolute and hereditary monarchy, where the ruling al-Thani clan runs the entire state and economy, and maintains rigid control by a combination of state repression and clan patronage. It is likewise an official Sharia Law Muslim state. So note: alcohol is partially legals in some five star hotels for non-Muslim foreigners, however this is an entirely arbitrary legal situation, and foreign non-Muslim nationals can still easily be formally charged – drinking in Qatar brings its own unpredictable peril – and most certainly any average Qatari national charged with drinking is liable to a flogging of between 40-100 lashes. This is the societal model you feel the need to defend?

The Americans gave up ( surrendered ) in Viet Nam and left because they could not win. They have been saying for a couple of years now that they can not win in Afghanistan and want out . Give up , surrender their positions too their enemy. Their meetings with the Taliban are too organise a respectful ? withdraw and surrender the country they can not win.

Maybe you forget, April 30, 1975, Saigon was taken over by The North Vietnamese Army, US troops not only could not win, they lost.
When Bush senior and bin Laden created Al Qaeda back in 1982, the first thing the Company ( CIA), did was fly into their camp in Pakistan two plane loads of the “Koran” from Saudi Arabia. So bin Laden also managed to hook up Saudi Arabia’s Intel., to the Pakistan military. The result was both Afghanistan and Pakistan converted from regular Sunni to Wahhabi Sunni. So after Al Qaeda split in two, the Taliban under bin Laden stayed in Afghanistan and Al Qaeda under the CIA, moved their show to Iraq. So what is the problem. The problem is the US has no plan. Well good poppy farmers. How many dead, how much money to grow f-ing flowers. Get those boys home, now !
