Syrian Military Renames Tiger Forces To 25th Special Forces Division

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has reportedly rewarded the Tiger Forces by granting them a new title: the 25Th Special Forces Division.

“The General Command of the Military and Armed Forces has granted the campaign of my commander, the Tiger, the following title: the 25Th Special Forces Division, congrats for you and for us Sir Brigadier General,” Maan Fahid, a reporter for the SAA, said on Facebook on August 29.

Commanded by Brigadier General Suheil al-Hassan, nicknamed the Tiger, the Tiger Forces have around 4,000 well-equipped troops specialized in urban warfare.

In the last two years, the Tiger Forces participated in all major battles in Damascus’ Eastern Ghouta, Eastern Qalamun and in the country’s southern region.

The Tiger Forces were also responsible for most of the recent army advance in northern Hama and southern Idlib, which likely motivated the SAA’s Higher Command to grant them the new title.

The analysis below was released in 2017:

“Tiger Forces” are presently smashing their way through the headchopping terrorists in Al-Ta’manah. They broke the rats resistance in several locations and have now entered the city. It has been suggested that the Rats main line of defence has collapsed. We hope SAA continues to dominate these degenerate savages and that Victory is only a short distance away

Well deserved.

EveryoneIsBiased

Beautiful! Besides Rep. Guard, 4th mech and Hezbollah, no force has had such an impact on the war as the Tiger Force. That they could turn the tide for all these battles with just 4000 personell is a testament to their disciplin and strength. Well deserved!

It could also be a sign as to what happens when you cream the top out of other SAA units, as even the 4th division does not do as well as the Tigers have done. Field Marshall Slim of the British Indian Army said in WW2 that while special forces have merit, it should not come at the expense of lowering the quality of other units.

They are all volunteers so you are wrong. And they are not part of the SAA but air force intelligence. Which dont have command over Syrian army.

Which is kind of confusing to me. SAA gave Tigers a unit designation? Does SyAF intel come under the SAA? Obviously, SyAF Intel is part of the overall Syrian Military and Armed Forces command. I was under the impression that the SAA, though, was the army part and the SyAF was something like a peer command, similar to western military’s organization.

This stuff looks like how the CIA operates rather than a normal military. Seems SAA is funded by syrian state.. But all these outfits like TF are funded by private individuals and attached to case workers. Makhlouf is under house arrest hence the TF now placed under SAA command rather than under his cousin in air force.

Thanks, igybundy. Wasn’t aware of the Makhlouf drama. No idea how credible The New Arab is as a source, but for anyone else interested: https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2019/8/28/cousin-of-assad-arrested-in-syria-reports Most surprising thing to me is that the otherwise meek Assad would make such a bold move. He must have been really pissed off about something to arrest three cousins and an uncle. Makhlouf sounds like a cancer feeding on Syria.

igybundy

Not Assad..Asma.. The one with balls in the family and keeps Syria together.. Assad is an idealist without a clue of the real world, guy still drives around saying my people love me and would have been taken out if not for the spies Asma has watching and keeping him safe.

Now THAT I can believe.

Seems like Russia has instigated this removal of that cancer with the ask for 2 billion dollars.

Well deserved of the Tigers. Although the cynic in me wonders if this is an attempt to reign in the independence of the Tigers and embed them more firmly into the SAA’s chain of command. Akin to what happened to the Desert Hawks brigade. Remember those guys?

igybundy

You cant have an intelligence outfit having command of such a force. Also looks like most of them have retired and these must be just newbies with some of the core commanders. They became huge after a few decisive victories but this is nothing like the force that took DZ and went against ISIS.

GLORY SYRIANS TIGERS!!!

In September/October 2018, reports indicated that between 6500 and 8000 Tiger Forces members will be demobilized

Congratulations Tigers! (For me you’ll always be tigers, but never mind.) I’m not sure if I understand what this means technically, hope it’s an improvement.
