On June 24, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled an attack of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) on its positions around the village of Zlin in the northern Hama countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

In response to the attack, the SAA artillery shelled several positions of HTS and the FSA in the northern Hama countryside. The SANA reported that several vehicles of the militants were destroyed as a result of the shelling.

Hours later, the Turkish-backed National Liberation Front (NFL) acknowledged that more than four of its fighters, including a TOW ATGM operator, were killed by the SAA in the northern Hama countryside. A sources in the SAA also told SouthFornt that two soldiers of the SAA were killed while repelling the attack.

HTS and several Turkish-backed FSA groups stepped up their attacks against the SAA and its allies in the northern Hama countryside after the establishment of several Turkish observation posts there earlier this year. Usually, the Russian Aerospace Forces respond to such violations of the de-escalation zone with airstrikes.
