Syrian Military Sends Large Reinforcements To Combat Al-Qaeda-Linked Militants In Hama

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has sent large reinforcements to northern Hama. By this move, the SAA aims to stall the advance of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies which are now deployed in about 6 kilometers from the provincial capital.

According to sources embedded with the SAA, a large number of Tiger Forces members was deployed to the Hama front from the eastern countryside of Aleppo. The newly deployed units were mostly fire support groups equipped with Grad BM-21 multiple rocket launcher systems and howitzers.

Furthermore, 5th Storming Corps units deployed in Palmyra were relocated to boost government defenses around Hama.

The 5th Storming Corps is well-equipped due to a sponsorship from Russia and has shown itself as a capable military force during the operations near Palmyra.

The Lions of the Desert, a special forces unit belonging to the the Air Forces Intelligence Service branch of the Syrian Arab Army have also arrived to strengthen the government forces in northern Hama. The Lions of the Desert played a major role in the defense of the T4 Airbase from the ISIS terrorist group. Earlier, they actively participated in an anti-ISIS military campaign in the eastern Qalamoun region.

The Russian Aerospace Forces have intensified airstrikes in the Hama countryside and in southern Idlib, pounding jihadist positions, armored vehicles and battle tanks. Su-34 and Su-24 bombers along with Mi-28N and Mi-35M helicopter gunships are invloved.

It is expected that the militant advance in northern Hama will lost momentum in the coming days. Then, the Syrian military may decide to launch a counter-attack in an attempt to retake the lost areas. Government fores will likely seek to flank the militant defenses from the direction of Ma’an. This could allow to encircle units of HTS and other groups deployed close to the provincial capital.

Also RG from Deir Ez Zor can be send if the situation becomes very bad

montezuma_rg

i don’t think the deir ez zor front can spare any soldiers, isis make take advantage of that

holding deir ez zor should be top priority

Trustin Judeau

They can send in case there is battle in Hama city . I dont think this will happen .

PZIVJ1943

Deir Ezzor forces should be left alone, to hard to reinforce there. SAA has forces much closer that can help out. Mt Zayn area N of Hama will hold I think. No doubt Palmyra advances will be stopped for now. Tigers have almost surrounded Deir Hafer. At least there is some good news today.

Thegr8rambino

How much u wanna bet these recent terrorist counterattacks were coordinated by Israel/turkey :(

Derapage

100% sure

Thegr8rambino

i agree. hopefully what they have there in homs/hama now will be enough

PZIVJ1943

OH CR*P I thought this was a minor push. SAA reinforcements are on the way.

dutchnational

They cannot even get them out except for by very vulnerable helicopters.

SAA has a base with trained and well rested troops and artillery. That is the base near Hassakah. Those troops can, if approved by SDF, go overland to the west of Syria.

I doubt though Assad will do this.

mark123456

send soldiers from DEZ? Are you serious?

Thegr8rambino

GOTTA BE FIERCE FEROCIOUS DEADLY SAA!!!! MAKE THESE TERRORISTS SORRY THEY WERE EVER BORN!!! LMAO

Lyubomir

Like you Fierce keyboard warrior. This is not CS boy :D:D:D

Thegr8rambino

Yes thank God you are not in charge of anything over there, I don’t even wanna think about it lmao

Lyubomir

Thinking is something you are not capable of yet, one fay, one day maybe…

Thegr8rambino

Really? Oh wow I’m so hurt!! That’s all u got? Lmao

Cycloben

This is what happens when you ceasefire with the “moderates” in Idlib and near Damascus, they will backstab you with their qaeda buddies. Time to wipe them out and seal the borders of terrorist states Turkey, Jordan, and Israel.

Thegr8rambino

Yes

Derapage

It is too late to do so.

Attrition47

Can’t be everywhere at once.

LOL MUHAYSINI LOOKS RIDICULOUS AHAHAHAHA

Suyanto Ng

SAA really insufficient in manpower, they need trained local people from SAA liberated area to defend their own home. There’s nothing powerful that people that defend their own home, of course Russia should help them.

dutchnational

They already have them, the NDF. Trained is a subective term here.

The question is always to whom are these people loyal? Surely not to Assad.

Thegr8rambino

i think thats a reason they let the terrorists to escape sometimes, to minimize their casualties, because of their shortage of manpower

John Brown

This is an opportunity. Now these Al cia Da units leading the attack on Hama must be surrounded and cut off so they can be wiped out. They must not be allowed to escape. If they are wiped out then the SAA can advance right up to the Khan Shikhoun at least.

mark123456

Tons of lebanese, afghani, palestinian, paki, iraqi, iranian paramilitaries but still all this terrible shortage of manpower?

Solomon Krupacek

yes, bacause no syrian

mark123456

Sorry? You mean not a lot of Syrian soldiers? Yes, obviously. But I thought all those paramilitaries could fill the gap. Guess not.

Solomon Krupacek

those paramilitaries elevete the level in that hogh, where should be only with syrians. under assad live 10,7 inhabitants. thus there is no reason to form 3-4-5 new divisions. but the syrians do not want to fight. look at this front. if the people catch kalashnikov and some anti tank weapons, the could stop the jihadists. but they do not want fight.

mark123456

I am sorry, no offense to you but it is hard to follow what you are saying. I think I got one part though …. armed local people have been done before you know btw, its called NDF and they are USELESS. And yes its partly because they are not heavily armed but you can’t just give them tanks and artillery too, that’s (a) dangerous (b) expensive as hell.

Thegr8rambino

i can barely understand him either lol

Rob

Entire Syria is burning but no meeting of government federal ministers. President Assad should call meetings every day of government federal ministers. There should be presentations on current and future situations of Syria. I don’t know how government is silent on current situation of Syria. If I was president of Syria trust me, either I would eliminate all those terrorists in the beginning or I would die in the start of this war.

Thegr8rambino

how do u know theyre not already doing all of that?

gustavo

Totally in agreement with Cycloben and John Brown….I hope Syria and Russia must understand that there must not be stop fire in Syria until the terrorist be totally defeated, point.
