The Syrian Air Force successfully uses the Ka-28 helicopters to carry out bomb strikes on terrorists’ facilities in Syria.
The Syrian Air Force continues to carry out bomb strikes on terrorists’ facilities, using the Ka-28 helicopters, an export version of the Ka-27, the Vestnik Mordovii information website reported.
According to the website, it is not the first time, when the Ka-28 helicopters are used against ground targets. Apparently, it is connected with a gradual decrease of aircraft fleet, which is available for Syrian military. The author of the article, Roman Katkov, noted that the Ka-28 is capable to carry 250-kg aerial bombs.
As Vestnik Mordovii reported, currently, the Syrian Air Force uses four such helicopters. The weight of the aircraft can reach 12 tons, the weight of cargo – 4 tons (or 5 tons on suspension). The maximum speed is 290 km per hour, the combat radius is 200 km.
Although, the Ka-28s are used to strike ground targets out of bare necessities of life, these helicopters get through new tasks quite successfully.
