On May 11, several units of Syrian Police and security forces entered the districts of Aqraba, Beit Sahm, Yalda and Babbila south of the Syrian capital of Damascus and raised a Syrian flag there, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
A last batch of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Jaysh al-Islam and Jaysh al-Ababil fighters departed from these four districts on May 10 in the framework of the reconciliation agreement, which was reached on April 29.
Before their withdrawal the militants handed over loads of weapons and ammunition to the Syrian Arab Army, according to the SANA. These weapons included an RPG-29 anti-tank rocket launcher, a Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle, two SA-7 man portable air defense systems (MANPADs), seventeen vehicles and dozens of mortars and mortar cannons.
Now after clearing Aqraba, Beit Sahm, Yalda and Babbila districts, the SAA’s last mission around Damascus is to eliminate the remaining fighters of ISIS in the Yarmouk refugee camp and the district of al-Hajar al-Aswad.

MG-42?
Funnily enough after WW2 the Soviets did not destroy the German weapons they captured. It is said today that there are still massive warehouses in Russia where some of these weapons are stored. Whether that is a fact or not I have no idea.
Many German weapons were supplied to North Vietnam and other conflicts by the USSR and I remember the MG42 being one such weapon that was sought after by the NVA.
A year or so ago there were images of a German Stu G3 assault gun that was being operated by the Kurds. That would be worth a fortune now :)
Perhaps a copies. The rounds for it were nonstandard so for practical use it’s impossible to field.
7.92×57mm Mauser is still in production and commercially available.
Yeah, the Germans analysed their war needs and built all sorts of mobile artillery pieces. However, the MC42 was the WW 2 state of the art gp machine gun and has spawned many offspring and copies since
The MG 42 (The 42 being the year of entry into the German military), was an excellent machine gun and used to strike fear into the allied troops. They said it fired so fast, that you could hardly hear the individual shots, as opposed to the MG 34, and was the number 1 machine gun of WW2
Sten gun and 30 caliber btowning machine gun ww2 era. The sten gun could have been of home production though.
it’s little brother the mg 53 NATO variant of the MG 42
It’s daddy, MG 34.
your right :0 wonder how the got it MG 53 is used everywhere and frequently turn up in the Syria conflict
They were not needed after WWII, but money was. Middle East have been a war zone ever since, and they have been buying anything they could get their hands on. Bunch of vintage weapons here (M1919, STEN, MG 34, Vickers, RPD, DP-28), probably not usable. I don’t know what is MG 53, only MG 3 and M53.
Its an MG34
Yes, correct MG34
MG-34, nvm, other poster was before me :P
MG-34 confirmed. Syria has a lot of ww2 era German weapons, including MP-44s. Syria even used Panzer IV’s against fake israel in 1967. I think most of the weapons were sourced through eastern Europe in the 1960ies.
They really squeezed out now that a relic started showing up.
All four are key??? Very rare situation in the world. :-O
US and Israel both migrants should know that the weapons that they had delivered to the terrorist organizations ISIS, HTS, FSA etc have been taken from them by Syrian government army and will be used against their illegitimate son Israel. The time has reached that Israel to be dismantled by all respect.
Who would welcome Israeli migrants in their native countries? Maybe the Muslim migrants who were forced upon us will deal with them?
Do we really want the israeli emigrants coming back to their “native” countries? look what they did to Germany, Poland, France, The US, Canada, Australia, etc etc . .
Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Turkey defending Pakistan against US and Israel. If any thing happend to these countries then the next will be Pakistan.
… keep on till the liberation of the last square inch of Syrian sacred land.
.50 cal …… hmmmm, interesting.
That’s .30 cal of WW2 era. .50 cal have longer barrel.
If anyone is interested in guns shown, here’s a short list: M1919, STEN, MG 34, Vickers, RPD, DP-28, some PKM copy/hack.
