A day earlier, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), backed by the Russian Aerospace Forces, launched a large-scale attack on terrorists’ positions in northern Lattakia. However, no ground assult was carried out.
Greater Idlib is controlled by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other terrorist groups. The Turkish-backed National Syrian Army (NSA) also maintains few positions within the region.
A ceasefire is currently imposed in the region. However, HTS and its allies are violating it on a daily basis, which could soon lead to a major escalation.
