Syrian, Russian Warplanes Targeted ISIS Terrorists In Eastern Hama

On October 24, Syrian and Russian warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on ISIS terrorists and their hideouts in the eastern Hama countryside.

Four days ago, the terrorist group launched a large-scale attack on Syrian Arab Army positions in the region. Since then, heavy clashes have been taking place there.

The Syrian Observatory for Huma Rights (SOHR) said Syrian and Russian warplanes had targeted the terrorists near the towns of Rahjan and Ithriyah.

“Despite the considerable participation of Russian fighter jets and regime jets and helicopters in repelling ISIS attacks, ISIS continued its attacks on the fourth consecutive day,” the SOHR said in a report, “Moreover, ISIS managed to capture a regime military post and seized weapons and ammunition of regime forces in Ithriyah countryside.”

According to the London-based monitoring group, the ongoing battle in eastern Hama has thus far claimed the lives of 39 pro-government fighters and 22 ISIS terrorists.

ISIS terrorists likely launched their attack on the eastern Hama countryside from their main stronghold in central Syria, the Homs desert. The terrorists are reportedly receiving support from U.S.-backed fighters based in the nearby area of al-Tanaf.

The terrorist group is constituently working to expand its control in Syria’s central region by launching attacks in Homs, Hama, Aleppo, Raqqa and Deir Ezzor.
