On February 13, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers and supporters of the Damascus government intercepted a convoy of the US-led coalition near the town of Tell al-Dahab in the northern al-Hasakah countryside.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, the convoy was stopped at an army checkpoint in the outskirts of Tell al-Dahab. After a short stand-off, a group of locals, backed by the checkpoint personnel, forced the convoy to retreat.
The US-led coalition convoy consisted of six vehicles, including at least two M2A2 Bradley IFVs [infantry fighting vehicles].
SAA soldiers and government supporters in al-Hasakah intercepted dozens of convoys of the US-led coalition over the last few months. On January 28, Syrian soldiers confronted a unite of the British Army’s SAS [Special Air Service] that attempted to enter the government-held “security zone” in the center of al-Hasakah city.
These confrontations appear to be meant to restrict the movement of the US-led coalition, who continues to expand its operations in northeastern Syria under the pretext of fighting ISIS.
