On January 8, Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops intercepted another convoy of the US-led coalition in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah.

The coalition’s convoy, which consisted of four armored vehicles, attempted to enter the town of Qubur al-Ghrajnah. However, it was confronted by SAA troops who blocked the main road leading to the town. Eventually, the convoy withdrew.

Qubur al-Ghrajnah is located near the town of Tell Tamer that oversees the strategic M4 highway, which links al-Hasakah with Raqqa and Aleppo.

This was the second such encounter this year. On January 3, SAA troops intercepted a US-led coalition convoy near the town of al-Salihiyah in the northern al-Hasakah countryside. The convoy was escorted by two attack helicopters. Despite this, it was forced to retreat.

Last year, many similar encounters were reported. In December alone, more than a dozen US-led coalition convoys were intercepted by SAA troops and government supporters in the northern and eastern countryside of al-Hasakah.

The SAA and government supporters are clearly attempting to restrict the movement of US-led coalition forces in northeastern Syria.
