On March 5, the Syrian state media released an extensive video showing dozens of Russian and Syrian strikes on positions, vehicles and weapons belonging to Turkish-backed militant groups during the recent clashes in Greater Idlib. Most of the destroyed equipment belong to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkistan Islamic Party and other similar al-Qaeda-linked groups.
According to the report, in the period from December 15, 2019 to March 5, 2020 Syrian government forces liberated 215 settlements (1,600km2). 6,100 terrorists were eliminated, 2550 others were wounded, and 615 vehicles were destroyed. The report also claimed that 100 ‘Turkish’ pieces of military equipment were destroyed. These numbers as well as those provided by the Turkish side about supposed Syrian Army casualties are apparently overestimated.

Considering the total liberated territory, the period during which the operation was conducted, the intensity of the fighting and the fact that the terrorist forces are mostly foot soldiers with unarmored / lightly armored vehicles with no air support, the figure of 6100 killed terrorists is possible. Vehicles and equipment are easily counted so that it can be determined is that true.

Surely you understand the difference between killing 6k people in 3 months and killing 3k in just a few days. The turk claims are obviously fiction and the SAA claims seem farfetched but the time period is way bigger.

6100 terrorists is probably an exaggeration, but they’ve no doubt killed 1-2 thousand given the consistently heavy casualties the terrorists suffer during their foolhardy assaults.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration. 215 settlements liberated, if that was 10 jihadists dead per settlement it would become 2150. Over 600 vehicles would put it at MINIMUM 600 dead, but more likely 1200 dead. Already nearly 3.5 thousand. Add to that the targeted buildings we see in endless videos, and battles in open countryside and suddenly 6000 is not such a bad figure. But of course it is an estimate only. Syrian MoD has to keep tally of such things, they have daily reports of targets destroyed, and they add them up and come up with the best figure they can. In the end 6100 is about where I think it should be.
Possibly, but I tend to take enemy casualty figures with a grain of salt. You have to remember that quite a few of those 215 settlements were taken without a fight (especially in the south).
I certainly hope that many terrorists were killed, but regardless, they never seem to run out of cannon-fodder for the grinder. They can suffer countless casualties and defeats but still seem to muster more fighters. I guess having plenty of foreign fighters and money helps with that. A luxury the SAA don’t have.
LOL, so both sides over estimates the enemies losses, I don’t find that too surprising at all, in fact I’d be more surprised if they didn’t.
