Late on September 10, a convoy of the Turkish Armed Forces came under attack in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.
A heavy explosive device struck the convoy as it was passing on a road linking Idlib city with the nearby town of Binnish.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense acknowledged that two soldiers were killed and three others were wounded as a result of the attack. In a statement, the ministry said that the attack occurred after a search and scanning activity in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

Saryat Ansar Abu Baker As-Siddiq claimed responsibility for the attack. The group, which first emerged in November of 2020, is believed to be linked to al-Qaeda. The leaders of the group remain unknown.
In the last few months, Turkish forces in Greater Idlib were attacked on many occasions. Exactly a month ago, Saryat Ansar Abu Baker As-Siddiq targeted a convoy of the Turkish Armed Forces next to Qmenas checkpoint on the eastern entrance of Idlib city. Back then, no casualties or material losses were reported.
Ankara’s allies in Greater Idlib and al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, the de-facto ruler of the region, have been doing nothing to stop attacks on Turkish forces in the region.
Earlier this week, Russian Foreign Minister criticized Turkey for not separating moderate rebels from terrorists in Greater Idlib. The recent attacks on Turkish forces a direct result of allowing the two to mix and cooperate in the region.

As a person that’s been living in Turkey for more than 20 years, and supports the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Bashar Hafez Al-Assad, I can assure you that Erdogan is NOT losing support in Turkey. Don’t get confused by the opinion polls, tweets, facebook messages etc. Still a VAST majority of Turks support Erdogan in Turkey.
