The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Hezbolalh are still struggling to secure the recently liberated area of al-Bukamal in the province of Deir Ezzor. According to pro-government sources, the SAA and Hezbollah are clashing with ISIS members in Jalaa area and north of the city. Pro-opposition sources even claim that government forces are still in control of the only southern part of al-Bukamal.
As it was reported earlier, ISIS has a large network of undeground tunnels in the area. So, the terrorist group is able to conduct counter-attacks even in the formally liberated parts of the city.
The Syrian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of al-Bukamal on November 9. The Russian Defense Ministry congratulated Syrian forces with the victory on November 10.
However, it looks the situation is at least a bit more complicated than the officials want to show.
