The map below depicts a general look at the military situation in Aleppo city on November 8, 2016. At the same day, the Syrian government forces liberated from militants the 1070 Apartment Project and the nearby hills of Rakhm and Mutah.

East Aleppo offensive should be modeled on Ghota on going events. Effectively dividing besieged areas in blocks and creating buffer zones within the city instead of squeezing from outside.
This way better supply line and rebel strength breakup would result in smaller resistance pockets . Criteria could be populated and unpopulated areas and different tactics could be used to neutralize the rebel groups depending on cover. Also might be good idea to look out for tunnels going within the city and outside that are being used for limited supply lines/ invasions by rebels.
