Syrian War Report – December 4, 2019: Government Forces Reversed Militants' Gains In Southern Idlib

On December 3, pro-government forces liberated the villages of Rasm al-Ward, Istablat and Ajaz from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other radical groups in southeastern Idlib.

With this advance, the Syrian Army and its allies retook all the villages that captured by militants in the framework of their advance launched on November 30.

Now, according to pro-government sources, the Syrian Army is preparing for a further push into southern Idlib in order to neutralize the terrorist threat in the region.

Pro-militant sources claim that multiple Russian and Syrian airstrikes hit positions of “opposition forces” near Maarat al-Numan. This town remains the main militant stronghold in the area and is an apparent target of any possible Syrian Army operation in the region.

On December 1, the Syrian Air Defense Forces intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles launched by militants over the Hama Airbase. According to pro-government activists, the mysterious UAVs approached the air base in what appears to be an attempt to bomb it.

Earlier in 2019, the Hama Air Base became a target of several UAV attacks. All the drones were launched from Greater Idlib. The new attack appears to be identical to the previous ones.

The Hama Air Base is one of three key air fields in central Syria. The airbase is hosting several squadrons of the Syrian Arab Air Force. Some Russian units are also deployed there.

Turkish-backed militants arrested a number of young local men and looted properties in multiple houses in the village of al-Qatouf village near Ras al-Ayn, Syria’s state media reported on December 3. The same report says that several militants died as a result of fighting erupted over the stolen properties.

Over the past years, several cases were repeatedly reported in the Turkish-controlled areas of Afrin and al-Bab. Turkish sources ignore these reports or call them fake news.

Sporadic clashes between the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces and Turkish proxies erupt on a regular basis north of Ayn Issa and southeast of Ras al-Ayn. Nonetheless, no major offensive actions have been undertaken by the sides.

Yes, even the citizens are fighting back against terrorists! God protect the young men who got kidnapped and God continue to help Syria!

Hide Behind

This is a deliberate war of attrition with US and Foreign interest allowance of supplis and manpower from their nations for the Rebel forces. The foreign forces have set the boundaries of their interest, Kurd held portion, Turkey gaining its buffer zone and Israel given permission to bomb Syria at will and the deed to Golans, an the enclave in South Syria along Jordan border. Syria is helpless as to being able to regain any portions now and in coming years of those lost portions. Yes they will be allowed to regain some of Iblib but it will most likely takes a couple years at their present rate; and keep a lot of resources away from rebuilding what portions they now hold. Terrorist groups of allies will still be able to infiltrate from neighboring states of Turkey, Iraq and Jordan as they do today, causing future instability and the need of a very large Syrian Military well Into future. One only has to look at how so many of terrorist wander from Europe, Balkans, Saudi Arabia, Britain, Canada, Central Asia and Scandinavian nations into and out of with citizenship in those nations. How easily those terrorist live without any real occupations, who pays their way? When Israel reclaims all of Jordan Valley, will Syria be able to take in a few hundred thousand Palestinians that now live there as Jordan will most surely not stop their exodus. More will die in piecemeal portions as there will never be able to win a huge decisive battle. All those small terrorist groups continue on no matter how many claims of their number one being killed. There are still large numbers of NATO AND European troop along with several based near oil fields and advisory small groups of US advisors and so many hundreds in Southern enclave no one can say for certain their numbers are as they wander between Jordan and there like it was a part of Jordan. Long war with a weak and resource poor Syria proper against Europes, US/Israel, France and Britain’s unlimited resources. The battles as reported here amount to no more than “firefights”, with an upsurge in guerrilla deadly but more of nuciance activities.

Why be pessimistic? Syria has the help of Russia, Iran and Hezbollah and of God Himself. Go, SAA and allies, and God go with you!
