The so-called “Democratic Forces” (SDF), backed by the US-led coalition, have retaken the vilalgles of Abu Dallah, Lubaydan and Abu Susah from ISIS in the northeastern countryside of the terrorist group’s self-proclaimed capital of al-Raqqah. Clashes are also ongoing in Mu’ayzilah.

On Tuesday, the US-led coalition released a statement, claiming that its warplanes had destroyed 17 heavy equipment vehicles, 11 vehicles, four dump trucks, three front-end loaders, three VBIEDs and two tanks near Palmyra, Separately, the US-led coalition airpower reportedly destroyed three tunnels, a weapons facility, a vehicle, a VBIED and an oil well head in the province of al-Raqqah.

After a series of failures in Bzaah, Turkish forces changed the point of military efforts near al-Bab, targeting ISIS units in the western outskirts of the ISIS stronghold of the province of Aleppo. The Turkish Army and a coalition of pro-Turkish militant groups branded as the Free Syrian Army took control of the Dalil Roundabout, the Al-Bab Hospital, Sheikh Aqil and Youth Housing Project. If they are able to hold the area, they will have a fire control over a notable part of the town.

Additionally to their gains near al-Bab, pro-government forces seized the Hawwart Jabbul hill, an important site which allows to control a road near the Jabbul Lake. This signs that the Syrian army is going to develop an advance south of the Kuweires Air base.

The Syrian army made another attempt to link up the airport area with the rest of the government-held pocket in the city of Deir Ezzor, but was not able to achieve a success in this effort. Especially heavy clashes took place in the cemetery area

palmyra offensive is stalled. Deir Ezzor is in jeopardy of losing its airstrip. The Syrian army is not capitalizing on this ceasefire. All be design. some foreign actor recently decided to switch their backing to ISIS. They were not this strong last December.

You could be right, I think after 6 years of war, Assad learnt not to react based on how the enemy wants you to. Sending teams like Tiger forces to Palmyra is what ISIS wants them to do, so Aleppo is weaker and could be attacked. The dropping of 500 troops about a week ago in Deir ezzor shows everyone that they do plan to hold the area but not like expected.

Attack on Al-Bab was the right choice as ISIS did not expect that, from there they can move south and head towards the desert, towards Deir ezzor from two fronts. I also do think that involvement in Al-Bab was to prepare for Al-Rai offensive later on. ISIS is doomed, they can’t hold all these fronts, as the SDF moves closer to Raqqah, you will see Mosul, Deir ezzor, Palmyra being liberated.

They are tired, their fighters don’t want to keep fighting anymore!

Got to laugh at the beginning. “So-called Democratic Forces” (SDF). Matches up with the letters very well. :P

Jens Holm

Who do You compare with. SDF is not even a polical organisation but a military one.

Robert Mullin

Nothing to do with comparison. Just childish wordplay that matched up with “Syrian Democratic Forces” by Southfront, which I found amusing. As a disclaimer, I have no strong feelings toward the SDF. It’s just my immature side coming out. :)
