In Western Ghouta, the Syrian forces managed to take control over the road between the southern side of al-Darousheh village and the Air-Defense housings. Following this, Syrian troops attacked Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) and its allies in the eastern outskirts of Khan al-Sheih. There is no confirmed information about casualties of the sides.

Since November 8, the Syrian army’s Tiger Forces and the Destert Hawks Brigade have made a series of attacks on the Minyan area, liberating about 90% of this area from Jabhat Fatah al-Sham and its allies from Jaish al-Fatah.

Clashes are ongoing in the neighborhoods of al-Assad and Jam’iyat al-Zahra in western Aleppo. At the same time, Syrian army and Hezbollah threaten the southern flank of Jaish al-Fatah’s positions in al-Assad. Considering the recent developments, the government forces would have control of al-Assad in the nearest future.

In the recent days, the government forces liberated the 1070 Apartment Project, the Al-Rakhmih Hill, the Motah Hill and seized the strategic area of Hikma School in western Aleppo.

On November 10, intense firefights erupted in the ‘Oweija District in northeastern Aleppo and reports appeared that the Syrian military was ready to re-launch the offensive in eastern Aleppo.

The coalition of Turkish-backed militant groups, known as the Free Syrian Army, and the Turkish Armed Forces have took control of a number of areas in the direction of the strategic ISIS-controlled town of al-Bab in the province of Aleppo. The Ankara-led forces seized Musaybin, Zamkiyah and Şhex Alwane and deployed in about 11 km from al-Bab.

Turkey’s Fırtına howitzers shot 90 ISIS targets 306 times and 5 Kurdish PKK and YPG targets 5 times. The report confirms that the Turkish military continues to target Kurdish forces in Syria despite a shaky US-backed truce between the YPG and the Ankara-led forces. Clashes between the YPG and Turkish-backed militants were reported on the al-Hassiah-Tuwainiyah road.

Tensions between the Ankara regime and the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces, led by the YPG, have grown significantly since the SDF announced the advance on Raqqa with the support of US-led anti-ISIS coalition. Turkey was excluded from the operation.

What i can not make out is where the snipers are in this war. Its seems like something is either hidden or forgotten. This lands seems perfect for long range sniping.

Rodger

Or Russian helicopters. How can the terrorists still have tanks near Aeppo?

Jc Plancarte

The US and Saudis keep buying them tanks from Libya and former Warsaw PAct countries which are now on the pro-terrorist NATO side.

Jens Holm

Im sure some has come in as Plancarte writes. But You also have to remember they are many small armies often having some own tanks. Thing are digged down like when we attacked Saddam and expected much more aeroplanes. But they couldnt be fixed and were all digged down and might be possible to restore later.

Both Libya and parts of eastern europs still has stored a lot of old weapons as well as ammunition. We see it in the crime in west. Its not John wayne´with american weapons, nor even many european ones. They come very often from old warzawa defence system.

Ted

Yes it is very odd. There should be very few if any. Aleppo is surrounded and cut off, to bring in any supplies should be very difficult. To haul in a T55? I don’t buy the idea’s others suggest. To ship a tank is not an easy task. With the Russian air force targeting the areas for years now the depletion should have been complete. But there are many a things in this war that make little sense.

Rodger

Russia has satellite overview. They should be able to see stuff coming in. And they have the force there to take it out. I’m starting to think Russia like the US wants a dynamic stalemate.

Joseph Scott

If you look around at the combat footage around on the internet, there are a fair amount of snipers in evidence. More seem to be on the government side than with the jihadists. The latter don’t seem temperamentally suited to it.

Jens Holm

But there are. When Manbij was almost fallen there where still ISIS snipers in it. They were mainly defeated by a kurdish sniper group.

Could be the influence of the snipers in this was has gone a little down because so many vehicles has light and heavy machinguns of the roof and protected. They have an exelent view. I cant all my machineguns. But I would say a light machinegun fast can give 3-4 shots relative accurate up to 800 m. and a we see heavy machinguns shout accurate single shots, which might be up to 2300 meters relativly accurate. They cover a lot of space by that.

The defence for the rest will then be assaulst where the common one is kalashkov and mortars and different kinds of RPG`s.

To me amateur I see the sniper most important in the urban parts. Its heavyer if its a real one, but You can carry it up and down stairs and climp even climp with it on Your back.
