The Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) advanced along the Aleppo-Hama highway and seized the two hills – Tell Bazam and Tell Masin – north of the recently liberated town of Souran. Strategically, this offensive may allow the army and the NDF to flank the militant-controlled areas with the center in Latamanah. This strategy could lead to a success if the government forces are able to advance further to the north and to take control of Morek.
The government forces continued military operations in Western Ghouta, targeting Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian al-Qaeda branch) and its allies in the town of Khan al-Sheih. Earlier this week, the government forces made an attempt to make an agreement with the militants to allow them to withdraw from the city to the province of Idlib. However, this idea resulted in a falure and lead to further escalation in the area. Yesterday, the army and the NDF seized a key farms northeast of Khan al-Sheih and deployed in a striking distance from the militant stronghold.
The army’s Tiger Forces, the Desert Hawks Brigade and Hezbollah successfully repelled a fiercest attack by the al-Nusra-led militant alliance, Jaish al-Fatah, in western Aleppo on November 3. Both sides suffered some casualties and Jaish al-Fatah used at least 2 car bombs in an attepmt to break the government forces’ defenses. Pro-militant sources report that the ‘opposition’ has destroyed some 4 units of military equipment belonging to the army. At least 1 infantry fighting vehicle and 1 battle tank belonging to Jaish al-Fatah were destroyed. On November 4, the humanitarian took place in the city. However, firefights are ongoing.
The ISIS-linked media outlet Amaq released a footage of an explosion of Russian Mi-35 multi-role combat helicopter near the village of Huwaysis, northwest of Palmyra. the Mi-35 was delivering a humanitarian aid in the area when it was downed because of a technical failure. ISIS militants targeted the landing site with an anti-tank guided missile. The incident took place on November 3. The Mi-35’s crew (2 men) survived the incident and returned safely to the Russian Khmeimim Airbase in the province of Latakia.
Russia’s state-of-the-art frigate Admiral Grigorovich, armed with Caliber missiles, set off to the Mediterranean Sea from the port of Sevastopol on November 3. The frigate will join the Russian naval task force off the coast of Syria.
It’s been literally years since SAA was in Morek, totally worth checking it out instead of just focusing on recapturing not that long ago lost area by blitz offensive spearheaded by now defunct Jund al-Aqsa.
Considering terrorists captured swathes of territory very fast and recapturing it is painstakingly slow, better just head on to places held by terrorists for longer time at the same time trying to encircle or atleast flank them
Normally I’d agree, but every time SAA tries to leapfrog they get burned. It sucks, but they cannot afford the sort of strategy US employed in Pacific. They can tolerate some outlier offensives, but this is all about slow and concrete butt-kicking. Land supply lines are valuable and tough to defend but 100% necessary, SAA has no choice.
Not being there I cannot imagine how the topography can allow for sizable buildups and resupply of ISIL not only from Turkey but Jordan and Israel proper, but it keeps happening.
Their supply routes must be more diversified than I imagine. They (SAA) have to secure their 6.
another important factor for SAA slowness might well be the desire to minimize soldier casualties. SAA and syrian population in general are already bled well over the acceptable level, and there will be enough bloody fighting to come before this is all over. so slow, careful and thorough warfare are worth more than going fast and furious.
Those VBIED suicide bombers in Aleppo are foreign jihadists every time – fat militant shown at @ 1.20 in video, was yet another Saudi national, whose Saudi ID was released in militant media statement.
I didnt know, but I know from ISIS contracts, that all are educated to, whats most effective. Do people have no weapontraining and are fx convertits they are the less usefull being fighters, but its an honor to die and as a minimum take many enemies away.
Thats why. ISIS spotted all incomming very well – can You repair weapon, cars, are you familiar to communication, can You organize defense jobs as arming houses, digging tunnels with slaves, so they work hard.
I have also seen low class infantery – the badest and most unstructures soldiers – some has more talent for it than others – attacking in groups as determinant shock groups, where most of the will die right away but a few therefore reach the enemy trenches and then can kill the good protected in the trenches.
Thats in away to compare with carbombs a big group might be 20 or 30 comming not even trying to duck a litte, because its about speed.
The SAA lack China drone ch5 which acts as a Reaper. Immediate close air support requires eyes in the skies with missile or glide bomb in 30 -60 seconds. Many in Syria were betrayed by secular government.Insurgency can not be defeated by bullets or tech alone . The Syria must heal the division . The Syria should allow Sharia law in certain zones of their control if the people want it provided they support the central government . Not the whole country but local zones must be allowed whatever form government the locals want. Imagine sharia zones of Syria loyal to central government.
Ha-ha: Sharia laws. Why. Look at You. . . Old shit divided in tribes diveded by barbed wire.
You need reforms not going back 100 years or when Sharia last time were re-newed. And whats about the Christian population. Do they have to follow sharia as well.

Sharia – My as.
Your reply was excellent and emphasizes rights for all . However some people consent to Sharia and even seek it. I do not. Personally I am not Muslim . I believe in Constitutional rights. But Saddam had zones where he let the Shia set up de facto Sharia sectors in Iraq. It kept the Shia contained until the Iraq invasion by USA. Saddam required the Shia sharia areas to contribute taxes and manpower to Saddam controlled secular government. Most of Iraq and Syria are uninhabited desert. Who really cares if they live in desert and practice whatever as long as people are free to leave their jurisdiction. They should pay taxes to central government as well. This was practice of Ancient Rome who let the locals practice whatever local authority they wanted .
No sharia areas. Sharia is made by a mix of ancient tradition and Islam very subjective and according to a lot of matters to me totally outdated.
Most of should any time be replaced by common sekular constitutional systems based on trying to get better human rights for everybody.
Vomen are equal citicens and should not be bought and sold. That includes Christian traditions many places as well.
Men has to learn, that voman and girls can go anywhere with asking or being protected by men or family groups. You have to learn that dics and brains can be calm if You change that part of culture. There are evedence for most muslim area has a higher raperate incl. children – So the wearing of much clothe dont protect any compared fx west. NO. Its about men have the wrong rights according to sharia and woman are not to be trusted.
Its also about education. Of course most muslim woman are much more stupid than their men, when they dont go to school, dont have a job with contact to the rest of the population and are kept, where they are at home or has to go, where the escort allow it.
NO sharia.
Saddam has a literacy rate of 85% in Iraq. There were great colleges and education system. Most was secular especially in Sunni areas. However , he tolerated the Shia and sharia sections of Shia community. Saddam was the great peacemaker between Shia and Sunni. Too bad Bush and friends wanted Iraq oil.
Were big lacs in You memory. You also forget the systematic killing og kurds and the deportations of Turkmens fro Kirkuk area. The war to Iran was friendly fuire too.
I do remember Saddam very well and much more, then You.
But its true Saddam and his military regime was sekular and kept religios extremists down.
It was a terror regime to me and a big mistake he wasnt killed at the Kuwait.
Saddam said when I am gone they will miss me. With Saddam there was no ISIS no civil war literacy and electricity and air conditioning was everywhere in Iraq. Yet he had a fairly peaceful relationship with Shia who did their own thing. The politics are to separate oil in Kirkuk areas from rest of Iraq. The players that control media and finance want control of Kirkuk oil fields get it for pennies on the dollar .
No he had no fairly relationsship to many shia muslims at all. You can take the attack at Iran, You can take draining of the “shia-swamp” areas of Tigris and partly Eufrat in Basra area. You can also take the uprise after the Kuwait war and how they were killed. You can also take the release of many, many 1000 hatd criminels making militias of them arming them hard and sending the to shia areas as law getting paid by killings, rapes and murder.
bad memory.
I may add, that it was an american mistake only to reduce Saddam first time, but the uprise was at once and with no hesitation.
Before the time of second US invasion Saddam crushed Shia uprisings but tolerated Shia expression in Sharia areas of Iraq. Saudi does the same tolerating large Shia areas within the Sunni Kingdom. Tolerance of religious dissent is essential for pragmatic function of even quasi secular government.
Nice article, however even SouthFront falls to state-funded propaganda both NATO and Russia uses. “Mi-35 carrying humanitarian help”???? AN ATTACK CHOPPER??? And it wasnt bring down by technical failure. It was shot down by AAA. Even most russian sources agree on this.
Lets keep disinformation campaigning out of this site, please. Its one of the few good ones remaining.
Cheers
