Syrian War Report – October 7, 2019: Idlib Militants Retreating To Turkish Border

On October 5, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out airstrikes on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham near the town of Ballisa and Agr Hilltop in southern Idlib. The strikes eliminated at least 9 militants and became a logical continuation of the recent increase of intensity of strikes by the Syrian Air Force in northwestern Hama and northern Lattakia.

In the period from October 3 to October 6, Syrian helicopters delivered over 30 strikes on positions of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkistan Islamic Party, Ajnad al-Kavkaz, Horas al-Din and other al-Qaeda-linked groups. Additionally, on October 6, rocket and artillery systems of the Syrian Army shelled militants near al-Zainah, located west of the militant stronghold of Jisr al-Shughur.

The Syrian-Russian strikes in the southern part of the Idlib zone, and the loss of underground infrastructure in the towns of Khan Shaykhun and al-Lataminah liberated by the Syrian Army in August forced Idlib militants to adapt their approach.

According to videos appearing online, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is transferring its weapons depots, including those containing Grad rockets and mortar shells, to the border with Turkey. One of locations of militants’ weapon depots is the Bab al-Hawa border crossing. Radicals hope that their weapons and ammunition depots will be safer closer to positions of the Turkish military.

Syria and Russia are constructing a permanent bridge between the eastern and western banks of the Euphrates in western Deir Ezzor. Syrian personnel are working under the supervision of Russian engineers. Russian Special Forces troops are deployed to secure construction works. The bridge is set to be completed by the end of October.

Russia’s NTV TV channel reported that the bridge will be used to improve the humanitarian situation in the area and provide aid to people remaining on the eastern bank of the Euphrates, most of which is controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces.

Tensions between the US and Turkey are once again growing over the situation in northeastern Syria. On October 5, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country is not satisfied by the implementation progress of the ‘safe zone’ agreement with the US and Ankara is ready to launch a military operation to fight “terrorists” in northeastern Syria.

Turkey sees Kurdish militias, which are the core of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, as terrorist groups. The Turkish-US ‘safe zone’ agreement was intended to address Turkish security concerns removing US-backed Kurdish militias from the border with Turkey. However, it seems that Washington is not hurrying up to do so. This behavior is setting ground for further tensions in the region.

The abandonment of the SDF by the US is just another American betrayal , but in this case, a welcome one.

Perhaps the US trained gangs of thieves in Al Tanf will now consider their position now :)

The rabid insanity of the US is now in its terminal stages I hope. The most dangerous phase of rabies does demand swift reactions though.

Its beginning to appear we are no better than our proxy Sodom Arabia military nor our master’s military in ISISrael. When your military fights for money alone their first objective is to stay alive… There are many deluded young people that still believe they are “serving their country” tho they are really serving their countries banksters…

“When your military fights for money alone their first objective is to stay alive…”

I completely agree with one caveat. The sociopaths and psychopaths who become mercenaries, and I include ISIS, etc in that international group, do fight to the death in many cases. This can be attributable to drugs, ideology , stupidity and insanity et al. Its a sort of club where killing and abuse is legal.

In general though, mercenaries want to live and spent their earnings at home etc.

russ

i agree with you except for one caveat lol… I would say that ISIS, Al Quida and such fight for ideals and thus aren’t true mercs. Mercs are usually ex military that go merc to make much more money than they would in the military. They want one sided warfare, not to risk their own lives any more than forced to.

That is broadly true, yet it is Saudi money and US ‘acceptance’ of ‘My enemies enemy is my friend ‘ that has enabled the funding , arming, training etc of these gangs of thugs. The Saudi’s and others , such as Turkey, released prisoners of the worst kind as long as they fought for ISIS, Al Nusra etc.

Ergo , ISIS etc were paid to fight and the addition of a medieval ideology makes that a toxic mix. An ideal soldier infact :)

“However, it seems that Washington is not hurrying up to do so. This behaviour is setting ground for further tensions in the region.”

Gee, how did I guess that ?.

frankly

Seems to me their is a danger in groups of men. You get one or two guys alone and able to avoid a fight with others and they bolt. You get a pack of ten and all the competition and ego sends us into mayhem, God forbid we should look weak in a group. Of course all bets are off when you are defending your home and family.

I have sympathy for the sane fighters from no matter what side. Most are half hearted in their loyalty and are simply desperate to stay alive. However the 5-7% Psychopaths will infect another 10-15% Sociopaths and then evil is the result. They drag all the rest along and these are the men of conscious who wind up killing themselves after when with time and reflection they can not live with what they have done.

I have professional rank to substantiate those claims, just my take. Those of us who did not have to face combat, but did experience the psychopaths were lucky to not be traumatized as much.

As to the Kurds. Well they got along with the Syrians and probably should again. I hope the bloodshed is limited. The rest of the world should look to their example however. You can not make a deal with the devil that you brag about in the long run.

gustavo

For USA and NATO (Turkey) it is better for they themselves to have control of the north of Syria rather than fool kurds. So, not surprise at all my friends.

Ralph Conner

Looks like Putin’s manipulated Erdogan into clearing the Kurds & Americans. LOL

Jc Plancarte

Looks like the era of Kurdish oppression of non-Kurds is coming to an end. No more calling US air strikes on Arab, or Christian, family houses that pulverized family members who came to rescue victims from the rubble of the first strike only to be machine-gunned with 50mm-depleted-plutonium rounds during the second, or double-dipping, strike by US A-10 Warthogs!!!! What to do with these treasonous Kurds??? round them up and hand them over to the Turks!!!
