Syria’s Elite Tiger Forces Deploys Along Euphrates River Amid Threats By Turkey (Photos)

File image.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has deployed the 25th Special Mission Forces Division, mostly known by their former name the Tiger Forces, along the western bank of the Euphrates River in Aleppo and Raqqa, different Syrian news sources reported on December 1 and 2.

The elite force was deployed in areas held by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northeastern Aleppo countryside and the southern countryside of Raqqa. According to unverified reports, some of the force units have already crossed to the eastern bank of the Euphrates.

Engineering equipment and heavy weapons, including battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, howitzers and multiple rocket launchers, were also brought in.

The deployment came amid preparations by the Turkish military and its proxies to launch a new ground offensive against the SDF and its affiliates in northern Syria.

The 25th Special Mission Forces Division, which is led by prominent Syrian officer Major General Suheil al-Hassan, is directly backed by Russia.

Turkey launched an operation, codenamed Claw-Sword, against Kurdish forces in Syria and Iraq on November 20 in response to the November 13 Istanbul bombing. So far, the operation has been limited to air and artillery strikes.

The SAA has already reinforced many of its positions in SDF-held areas in northern Syria, which were established under Russian-brokered agreements during the Turkish invasions of 2018 and 2019.

Damascus may be planning to quickly move the 25th Special Mission Forces Division to secure key areas in Raqqa and the northeastern Aleppo countryside if Turkey launch a new ground offensive against the SDF. Earlier this year, the force trained on crossing water barriers and parachuting with help from the Russian military.

Because Kurds is very better than Erdogan

Maureen Coddington

The Kurds are in bed with Israel, their goal is to overthrow Assad. Erdogan is no friend either.

Chris Gr

Then why did Assad support PKK?

Furkan

Erdogan support jihadist they is worse than Kurds

Chris Gr

Because they have common enemy.

Lance Ripplinger

Why do people keep saying “Turkey operation against Kurdish forces in northern Syria”? Turkey has invaded Syria’s sovereign territory. It is illegal to invade another country. If the roles were reversed, the world would all be “condemning” Syria for invading Turkey! The hypocrisy in the collective west is astounding.

Syria has not learned its lessons … bring as many weapons, as many armies as you want. we will crush you. the turks are used to fighting against several opponents at the same time! it is also like that in the majority of wars in Turkish history.

that they continue to take pictures to show off on social networks. as stupid as the Russians and Ukrainians who show their weapons and especially their positions in the eyes of the world, in the eyes of their enemies…

In the beginning you will win but in the end?

Chris Gr

So this means that Assad is in line with the Arab League so it will mean that Iran and Turkey will come even closer.

They look like a Mickey mouse gangs 😁

Why not work together with the Turkish army? If Erdogan hits the US-backed Kurds from the north , Assad can hit the US-backed Kurds from the south. This will bring an end to the Rojava project to divide Syria.

By looking at these photos of the so called Elite Tiger Force, they don’t appear so elite. They look worn out.
