On January 27, the Syrian Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources announced that the maritime oil pipeline network near the port city of Banyas was targeted by an IED attack.
“The technical staff of the Ministry immediately started to evaluate the damages caused by that terrorist act to undertake the maintenance works and ensure the continuation of the oil productions,” Syria’s SANA quoted the ministry statement as saying.
The attack took place amid the Syrian Army’s rapid advance on positions of radical militants in southeastern Idlib. MORE HERE
The January 27 incident was the second time when the Banyas pipeline came became a target of the sabotage act. On January 23, 2019 the attack on the pipeline caused an oil leak and put a large part of the pipeline out of service.
