On May 2, Taliban fighters ambushed a unit of the Afghan Police in the Shah Wali Kot district of the southern province of Kandahar, according to the Taliban news agency Voice of Jihad.
The Voice of Jihad said that Taliban fighters had killed 8 Afghan policemen and had destroyed two armored vehicles of the Afghan security forces.
The Voice of Jihad said that the ambush is a part of the Taliban’s spring offensive known as “Operation al-Khandagh.” The offensive was launched on April 25 in response to Washington’s decision to increase the US presence in Afghanistan.
In a related development, the Taliban said that its fighters had clashed with the Afghan Army and Police in Mohammad Agha district and Pol-e-Alam of the eastern Logar province. Taliban fighters killed nine Afghan Army soldiers and destroyed three armored vehicles during the clashes, according to the Voice of Jihad.
The increased number of attacks by the Taliban has not shifted the areas controlled by the competing sides in the war-torn country, according to Afghan sources. However, observers believe that the situation could change soon if the Afghan Army does not take stronger measures to deal with the growing Taliban influence.
So are the Afghan police Afghans or just more mercs working for the yanks?
2 have faces blurred out and the others look more caucasian than arabs, you’re most likely right; yanks.
Second you. Those were rebranded Blackwater the AlCAiDaMYlitants.
afghans are not arabs
True, mixture of turco-mongol, Turkish, and Persians
the fighters in the image are not afghan police, they’re taliban special forces
They’re using an M4 riffles. Those things have zero tolerance towards dusty and sandy conditions and would jammed itself fast. Good luck using that on engagements around 500+ in Afghanistan mountainous terrain. Even the primary users complained about them. Germany and USSR era weapons still surpassed those in reliability and overall performance.
Having fired hundreds upon hundreds of rounds from an M4, no.
Sure. Germany arms manufacturer HK replaced them already :)
The US garrison is really the only thing preventing an overt coup attempt, but the state of population scale gang warfare needs to stop for the Afghan’s sake. Everyone knows that as soon as it appears that the Taliban has more power than the Afghan government the US will intervene, so it would be better for the Taliban to make a negotiated settlement (which they refuse to do).
Wouldn’t it be a counter coup, or the restoration of the legal government.. I mean the USA overthrew the Afghan Government(Taliban) and put citizens of the CIA into power. So if the Taliban win, just like the Vietnamese won back in my day, it would be the restoration of the legal Government, and defeat for the American invaders.
Sir, I’m afraid you’re getting your terminology mixed up.
