On the second day of its spring offensive, the Taliban conducted a series of hit and run attacks against dozens of checkpoints and positions of the Afghan Army and Police in different areas of the eastern province of Nangarhar, according to the Taliban news agency Voice of Jihad.
The source said that Taliban fighters had injured and killed 50 Afghan Army soldiers and had destroyed 4 armored vehicles during their attacks.
The Voice of Jihad also claimed that the Afghan Army shelling on Taliban fighters in the districts of Mohmand Darah and Bati Kot had killed 2 children and injured one.
The Taliban launched its spring offensive, codenamed “Operation al-Khandagh,” on April 25 and said that the operation is a response to Washington’s decision to increase the US presence in the war-torn country.
The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan described the Taliban offensive as “war propaganda” and vowed to repel it in an official statement released on April 26. However, the ministry confirmed that Taliban fighters had been able to launch a coordinated attack against the Afghan Army positions in 20 Afghan provinces.
The Taliban’s capabilities to launch and coordinate such a large-scale military operation on many fronts is a proof of the group’s influence across the country.
But, but I thought they had American democracy and peace !!.
