On September 15, the Taliban-run central bank of Afghanistan announced that it had seized nearly $12.4 million in cash and gold from former top government officials, including former vice president Amrullah Saleh.
In an official statement, the central bank said that it is still unclear why the money and gold were kept in officials’ houses.
Earlier this week, a video showing large sum of cash and gold which were allegedly seized by the Taliban from Amrullah Saleh house surfaced online. It was reported that $6.5 million in cash and at least 15 gold bars were found in the house of the former vice president.
Following the fall of Kabul on August 15, Amrullah took refuge in Panjshir where he declared himself the acting president of the country. Soon after, Amrullah joined resistance forces led by Ahmed Massoud Jr. and became one of its top leaders.
In his most recent video, Amrullah cried over the loss of his brother, Roohullah, who was allegedly killed by the Taliban. The video was mocked by Taliban supporters who claimed that the former vice president was crying over the money that was seized by the group.

The current whereabouts of Amrullah remain unknown. According to a number of Afghan sources, he is taking refuge in Tajikistan.

Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
But that is what the US does over and over again whenever it takes over a country. Finds the richest people and finds who is the most corruptible and puts them in charge by whatever means necessary. The corrupt leaders get paid their bribes and do as the US tells them. If they don’t play ball they get removed one ay or another.
Amrullah Saleh is just another Juan Guaido wannabe.
The Taliban could sort out the corruption in the jooooo USA as well :)
