Taliban Develops Its Attack In Ghazni Province And Captures Five Military Positions

On May 23, Taliban fighters launched a new attack in Gelan district of the southeastern province of Ghazni and capture three checkpoints of the Afghan Army and Police, according to the Taliban news agency Voice of Jihad. The source said that Taliban fighters had killed 17 soldiers of the Afghan Army and had injured 7 others during the attack.

Voice of Jihad also reported that the Taliban had developed its offensive in the district of Deh Yak in Ghazni province capturing two checkpoints of the Afghan Army and a large urban region.

Taliban fighters launched a large scale attack on positions of the Afghan Army and Police in the districts of Deh Yak and Jaghatu on May 22. Within hours, the Afghan group captured large parts of these two districts.

On May 19, the Taliban launched a similar attack on the center of the Ajristan district of Ghazni province. A day later, most of the district center fell into the Taliban hands.

The Ministry of Defense of Afghanistan claimed in an official statement that the Afghan Army had repelled several attacks of the Taliban on the districts of Dih Yak, Rashidan, Qarabagh, Ajristan, Malistan, Gelan and Andar during the last 24 hours.

Several Afghan sources warned that Ghazni province will face a catastrophe, if the Afghan Army does not respond to the Taliban attacks. Observers also believe that the Taliban attacks on Ghanzi pose a threat to the southern and eastern provinces of Afghanistan.

Fake news

Yeah Joey :) Strongest army in the world seem to be doing well, does it? Their Afgan vassals are enjoying great deal of help and Taliban’s days are numbered. 16 years and counting. Thanks God Russia was wise enough to leave that place. We’re not interested in expanding opium fields as leaders of free world are.

Joe Dirt

Russia left Afghan? you mean they got there ass kick out….

Sinbad2

Yes with the help of the USA. Russia should return the favour and give the Taliban manpads. The US has admitted that it trained and armed terrorists to kill Russians, President Raygun invited them to the Whitehouse and publicly supported their terrorist acts.

Zionism = EVIL

The Taliban were feted by the senile idiot Reagan and Casey as the equals of “US founding fathers”. CIA encouraged the proliferation of Saudi and Persian Gulf petro-pimpdoms Wahhabi madrassas to fight “communism”. In 1980, there are only 200 Wahhabi madrassas in Pakistan, then the puppet Wahhabi military dictator stooge Gen. Zia ul Haq opened up the flood gates and today there are over 24,000 Wahhabi madrassas with 10 million “students” from dirt poor hovels. Thank God for such American “farsight” :)

Joe Dirt

The Taliban are the a buffer to contest Russia….Same way Russia supports and supplies ISIS…

Tudor Miron

Playing your old dirty tricks? Accuse others of your own crimes is what you love doing.

Joe Dirt

Stay out of politics and go back putting stickers on cars….

Tudor Miron

Stickers? Lol.

Zionism = EVIL

USSR intervened in 1979 on a wrong premise and totally faulty intelligence. The Khalq and Parcham factions were infighting and the Afghan army had melted. The aging USSR Politburo and then KGB geriatric Andropov have a very upbeat assessment to dying Brezhnev that Afghan “socialism” was in danger, not realizing the tribal nature of a clan based Islamist society as well as Pakistani meddling. The USSR should never have gone in the first place and worst of abandoned Najibullah and let him get hanged in public. In any case Afghan war was used by US and NATO to destroy USSR and I have a feeling Russian intervention in Syria will suffer the same fate. Russians are untrustworthy idiots in general and totally enslaved to Zionism.

Sinbad2

Not true, the USA paid and trained people, mostly Pakistanis to attack the Soviet Union and commit atrocities against Soviet women and children. Zbigniew Brzezinski brags about it. https://www.counterpunch.org/1998/01/15/how-jimmy-carter-and-i-started-the-mujahideen/

Zionism = EVIL

That is also a fact, but the USSR should never have intervened. The coup against Daud and then factional fighting was an internal Afghan spat and they would have sorted it out. USSR intervention set a chain of events and killings of Taraki, Amin and so on. The Pakistanis are opportunists and took advantage of the Afghan mess as they want to control Afghanistan as their “strategic depth”. The Pakistanis just facilitated CIA operations as the book BEAR TRAP by a Pak ISI general Mohammed Yousef explains. The mess was an Afghan one, the US used the USSR intervention to destroy the Soviets and their half hearted intervention. To control a country the size of Afghanistan with warring tribesman, an occupation force needs at least half a million soldiers. The US itself is bogged down now and barely controls the main Afghan cities that loop around like a belt from Kabul to Mazar e Sharif. However, US and NATO occupation of Afghanistan has been far more bloody and brutal with indiscriminate killing of civilians. Perhaps a million Afghan civilians have been killed, resulting in growing anger and resistance.

Wow! What we have here? Totally free from zionizm freedom fighter? After reading that utter BS that you posted above I’m very curious to know where you are from.

Zionism = EVIL

It is quite apparent from the captured US military equipment and even uniforms that the Taliban have started wearing, that the US military is doing “really well” and surely “winning” the 17 year old “Mission Accomplished”. BTW, even by NATO acknowledgement, the Taliban and different resistance factions control 90% of Afghan territory. Ashraf Ghani is the mayor of his bedroom.

Smaug

Still no actual fronts or mass displacements have been caused by this war. No one can or wants to take any major action, apparently (except for that one where US warplanes routed a Taliban brigade).

montezuma_rg

SOUTHFRONT can we get a map to go along with the event, it would give us a better understanding of the situation
