In Afghanistan’s Asadabad, the Taliban opened fire on a crowd trying to commemorate Independence Day, Reuters reported, citing eyewitnesses.
There are victims, their number has not yet been specified.
People took to the streets on the occasion of Independence Day, and as a result, a stampede began.
Asadabad is a city in the east of the republic, the capital of the Kunar province. It is located near Jalalabad, where protests against the Taliban took place the day before and, according to media reports, at least three people died.

Separately, three people were killed and more than a dozen injured after Taliban militants opened fire during protests against the group in the Afghan city of Jalalabad.
A Taliban source said one person had been killed in the city, some 150 km (90 miles) to the east of Kabul.
The witnesses said the shooting followed an attempt by local residents to install Afghanistan’s national flag at a square in Jalalabad.
Video footage shot by Pajhwok Afghan News, a local news agency, showed protesters in the city who were carrying the Afghan flag fleeing with the sound of gunshots in the background.
“There were some troublemakers who wanted to create issues for us,” a Taliban militant present in Jalalabad at the time of the incident told Reuters. “These people are exploiting our relaxed policies.”
Against the background of the withdrawal of the American contingent, the rebels launched an offensive and captured all major cities. Former President of the country Ashraf Ghani fled the country.
Taliban political office spokesman Mohammed Naim announced that the war was over. The form of government will become clear in the near future. The militants do not agree to a transitional government.
A general amnesty has been announced, but many Afghans are still trying to flee the new regime. In the first days after the arrival of the Taliban, chaos reigned at the Kabul airport: people stormed foreign planes that were taking diplomatic staff out of the country. Later it became known that several people died, having fallen from the take-off board.

Historically, Afghanistan represents a decentralized political and economic entity. The US mistake was assuming they could create a fully centralized western style nation state operating from Kabul. Sure, Kabul is the geographical capital, but it is just the location of the most dominant warlord. The rest of the provinces have their own localized warlords, and ethnicity factors, creating a complex and ever dynamic system of patronages and allegiances between them.
got to be cautious about all this so called news coming out of afghanistan. looks far more peaceful and restrained than france after the liberation. about 9000 nazi collaborators were summarily executed by french resistance.
