Tensions are mounting in the northeastern Syrian city of al-Qamishli between government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Late on December 26, the SDF security forces, commonly known as Asayish, arrested three officers of the Syrian Air Force Intelligence Directorate. The arrest happened after a security operation by government forces, in which several members of the SDF and employees of its administration were taken into custody.

According to several sources, including the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, government security forces and Asayish units in al-Qamishli were placed on a high-alert following the arrests. Nevertheless, no clashes were reported.

“The Internal Security Forces [Asayish] dominates al-Qamishli city, although regime forces are stationed in several positions there,” the monitoring group said in a report.

The Russian Military Police, which maintains a large base at al-Qamishli Airport, intervened to prevent any escalation. Russian forces conducted a patrol inside the city.

In the past few years, limited clashes between government forces and Asayish boke out in al-Qamishli city on several occasions. In no case, however, the clashes developed into a real conflict.

The SDF, which relies on Russian and Damascus support to deter Turkish forces, will likely submit and release the Syrian intelligence officers very soon. A conflict in al-Qamishli will not likely end in favor of the Kurdish-led group.

One should also know how to write before commenting.

“TENSIONS GROW IN AL-QAMISHLI FOLLOWING ARREST OF SYRIAN INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS BY SDF SECURITY FORCES” is mainly a spelling contest for many. isnt it.

I can do it too: Why only one. What about the rest. Hard times for SF.

Being loyal Syrians is obviously a crime in the US fantasy world.

Probably the Americans told them to do it,i wouldn’t be surprised if those SDF intended handing them to the Americans.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

This is what syrialiveuamaps says happened,

“SDF arrests 4 members of the Air Force Intelligence and a police officer of the government in the city of Qamishli, amid a security alert and military build-ups for both parties”.

So they say 1 policeman and 4 Air Force Intelligence officers were arrested, that’s a bit different to what SF and the SOHR says, the numbers are different and I’m not sure which source is more accurate. Air Force Intelligence is Syria’s top tier Intelligence agency, they have authority over both the military Intelligence and general Intelligence agencies, so they’re very important people and the Syrian Government will want them back pronto, and so will Iran, but I don’t know if Russia will be so concerned with their arrests and release times LOL, they might even let them sit in jail for a while just to see the look on the Iranians faces. Russia has no say in Air Force Intelligence matters but Iran does, so Iran will owe Russia a big favor if the Russians can get them released quickly, and so will Assad.

Here’s the full story if anyone’s interested, it might help explain why the Intelligence officers were arrested, but then again the real reason might be something totally different, I have my suspicions this explanation isn’t the real or only reason they were arrested. ……..

” Rising tension | Regime forces put on high alert in Al-Qamishli, after members of “Air-Force Intelligence” arrested by Asayish Forces On Dec 26, 2020 Al-Haskah Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have reported growing security tension in Al-Qamishli city, after the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) arrested three members of the regime’s “Air-Force Intelligence” service in the city, taking them to unknown destination. Meanwhile, regime forces have amassed troops in order to launch a campaign of arrests in the region. It is worth noting that the Internal Security Forces dominates Al-Qamishli city, although regime forces are stationed in several positions there. SOHR sources reported in November that the Internal Security Forces (Asaysh) stormed exchange and remittance offices in al-Derbasiya, Amuda and al-Qamishli. According to Syrian Observatory sources, the “Asayish” forces closed some offices in these areas, after storming them in a “barbaric” manner, according to the residents. “Asayish” forces confiscated the offices’ equipment, including computers and telephones in order to force the offices to obtain work permits from the “Autonomous Administration”. It is worth nothing that the offices of remittance and exchange that were stormed and closed had previous licenses from the Syrian regime.”

Looking from th moon I see it as SDFs and Americans dont let Assads take over the SDF/American boycut zone.

Intruders and organizers by Damaskus are a 100% no.

Maybe.

SDF should pick a side. And the only side that wont throw them under the bus is SAA/Russia. They can play games but Turkey and Iraq will move on them sooner or later, U.S. wont move their pinky to help them as usual. They shouldnt bite the hand that is reaching out to help them.

Like to see the Syrian and Turks join forces to get rid of the SDF and Kurds. US will be helpless since they won’t turn on Turkey and therefore won’t assist the SDF/Kurds. Would be an interesting scenario.
