On February 6, an explosion rocked a small checkpoint of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the road between the towns of al-Harrah and Nimr in the western Daraa countryside.
A new group named “Popular Resistance in Daraa” claimed responsibility for the attack. The group, which emerged last year, says that its operations are a response to the violations of the reconciliation agreement by the Damascus government.
Syrian opposition sources claimed that three Syrian service members who were manning the checkpoint were killed in the attack. However, local sources told SouthFront that these claims are false.
In the last few months, the SAA and former FSA fighters stepped up their security operations in southern Syria, especially in Daraa. The Syrian intelligence even managed to assassinate prominent terrorist commander Ayad al-Tubasi, a brother-in-law of slain al-Qaeda leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, last December.
“May God accepts the Jordanian Muhajir [Islamic term used to descript foreign fighters] Sheikh Abu Jalibib, who was martyred with his Muhajireen brothers in Daraa, life became harder in Idlib so they went to restart the march of jihad in Daraa,” Abu Suraqa al-Shari, an al-Qaeda figure, wrote on his Telegram channel revealing al-Tubasi mission in southern Syria.
The new attack confirms that many sides, including al-Qaeda, are trying to spark a new armed conflict in southern Syria. These attempts will likely fail due the government’s newly-established relations with prominent local figures, who are supporting the reconciliation agreement.

This will happen over and over again as far SAA is not be able to get rid of terrorists at Idlib and Al-Tanf, and this will not happen since Russia has stooped any offensive action of SAA.

These little skirmishes by Insignificant little groups will quickly be quashed over time and disposed of as one disposes of cockroaches with the sole of a shoe. I wouldn’t read into this to much.
