That Time CNN Staged A Fake Interview With A Syrian Child For War Propaganda

Written by Caitlin Johnstone; Originally apppeared at her blog

Imagine if you and some friends wandered into a completely dark room together for some reason. You’ve never been in this room before, and you can’t see a thing.

Now imagine one of your friends says he can see everything in the room perfectly, and starts describing the different things that he sees in a confident, assertive tone of voice. You know for a fact that there’s no light in the room, so you are doubtful that your friend is able to see any better than you are, but one by one your other friends start talking about the objects in the room as though what he is saying is true. After a while your group starts telling you you’re crazy and evil because you remain skeptical of your first friend’s ability to see the room in pitch darkness, despite his assertive tone of voice and despite the fact that everyone else believes it.

Western public discourse about Syria is very much the same. All the time I get people coming up yelling at me about what a butcher Bashar al-Assad is, how he loves gassing children because he’s an evil monster, how he’s killed hundreds of thousands of civilians in his own country out of sheer sadism, and all I can say to them is, you don’t know that. You don’t know any of those things, you’re just pretending you do because that’s what everyone else is doing. I know you don’t know any of those things because you’re looking at the same information landscape as I am, and it’s chock full of war propaganda. The media matrix is too full of obvious psyops meant to manufacture public consent for military interventionism in Syria for any westerner to have a clear idea of what’s actually happening in that country.

And we know this for a fact, as sure as you know when you’re in a dark room. Take the time CNN knowingly staged a fake, scripted interview with a seven year-old Syrian girl last year and passed it off to its audience as a real interview.

I point this out to my readers every few months, and I expect I will continue to do so for as long as western war propaganda is a problem. In April of last year, following a hotly disputed accusation of chemical weapons use in Idlib province, a little girl named Bana Alabed was paraded before the audience of CNN’s New Day in an interview with Alisyn Camerota. Bana was seven years old at the time, yet was seen in the interview providing complex ideas and geopolitical analysis that she could not possibly have understood. Her eyes moved back and forth as though reading from a teleprompter, and she sounded out the words in English (a language she doesn’t appear to have understood at the time) syllable-by-syllable in a way you’ve never heard any child speak in your life.

It was a fake interview passed off as a real one, scripted and passed off as spontaneous. It’s as clear as day for anyone to see. And Alisyn Camerota necessarily had the other half of that script, since she needed to know what questions to feed the child. It was a coordinated deception of CNN’s audience, meant to sell the unpopular idea of yet another military intervention in yet another Middle Eastern country, aired on America’s most trusted and well-known nationwide news network. It was as brazen a deception as you could possibly imagine, on as mainstream a platform as you could possibly get, advancing a narrative clearly intended to manufacture support for an agenda which could potentially devastate an entire region. That happened. They did that. If they’ll do that, there’s nothing they won’t do.

And now, as things are heating up in Idlib, we’ve got America’s UN ambassador saying that any sign of chemical weapons use will be immediately blamed on the Assad government and retaliated against despite the known presence of Al-Qaeda affiliates who’d have every incentive to stage such an attack, and despite the complete absence of motive for Assad. We’ve got State Department officials saying the Trump administration has reversed its policyof withdrawing from Syria and saying no campaign to liberate Idlib from its terrorist occupiers will be tolerated. And we’ve got Youtube suddenly suspending Syrian government accounts to better ensure total narrative control.

They are lying to us about what is happening in Syria. We know that for a fact, just like we now for a fact when we are in a dark room. And we know for a fact that the US and its allies have been scheming to effect regime change in that very nation, the nation immediately adjacent to their previous regime change target Iraq, for many years. We know that they have been planning to orchestrate a violent uprising in Syria since long before violence erupted in 2011, and we know that it erupted as they had planned. I posted the evidence for this in a recent article, but here it is again just to make sure more people see it:

  • Here is a 2006 WikiLeaks cable in which the US government is seen exploring possible factions which could be incentivized to rise up against Assad, and ways in which psyops could be used to ensure widespread violence.
  • Here is a declassified CIA memo from 1986 in which the Central Intelligence Agency is seen exploring ways in which sectarian tensions can be inflamed to provoke a violent uprising in Syria. Here is a useful articlefeaturing excerpts from the memo showing some jarring parallels between what was being planned and what happened a quarter century later.
  • Here is a video clip of General Wesley Clark naming Syria among the countries scheduled by the Pentagon for regime change in the wake of 9/11.
  • Here is a video clip of the former Foreign Minister of France stating in plain language that he was informed by British government insiders in 2009 that a violent Syrian uprising was being planned, two years before the violence erupted.
  • Here is an article featuring a video of the former Qatari Prime Minister stating that the US and its allies were involved in the violence from the very beginning.
  • Here is an article from May of 2011 reporting on some of the extremely suspicious provocations that led to the outbreak of widespread violence. Here’s another from March 2011. Here’s another from December 2011.

So don’t be fooled. Remember, the reason they work so hard to manufacture our consent for these agendas is because they need that consent in order to operate. If they try to operate without our consent, they will lose control of the narrative, and thus lose their ability to propagandize us effectively. So don’t give them your consent. Fight their lies on all fronts, using truth, skepticism and critical thinking as your weapon. Stand tall, shine bright, refuse to be ignored, don’t wait for your turn to speak, use unmitigated speech, say what needs to be said and say it like you’re right, because you are.

Let a giant “NO” to this manipulation roar through us all. Let the Syrian people be free from imperialist agendas once and for all. Let us all be free from imperialist agendas once and for all. End the madness and begin moving into sanity.

Did she see the SAA Soldiers dragging the babies from the icubators and throw them on the floor? No good story without some dramatic barbarism…

Promitheas Apollonious

it was not in her script.

Merijn

It must be in America that People still believe the LIES being told by their MSM… In Holland there are a LOT of People that Doubt the “Official” Narrative… from Young to Old….Soon only Americans will believe in their Own Righteousness…Isolated and Ignored by the Rest of the World if they continue on their Road to Total Destruction…

Empire's Frontiers

You see how many people in the US go vote, genuinely believing something magical will happen.

It’s practically a religious ritual in pursuit of electing the Messiah.

There’s another day in April when they file their ‘tax returns’, which in fact are ‘labor sales reports’ they have to file with their owners. And pay more if they sold more labor than estimated.

Both of these acts, voting and reporting to their owners, are done with compliance and enthusiasm.

FlorianGeyer

I agree and the word ‘compliant’ is one that is increasingly used these days. It is a word I detest.

Merijn

Our Government soon will be in Trouble…. the Financing of Headchopping Terrorists in Syria by the Dutch Government just appeared on the 6 O’ Clock News….The beginning of the End for Rutte….there is possibly going to be Parliamentary inquiry about this Subject….interesting…..this means they are in deep sh*t….a Lie has no Legs…

FlorianGeyer

This why FUKUS are in such a frenzy as well . Their reputations are going down the shitter very fast :)

Merijn

The Establishment in Europe got No support from their servants It will be only a small Elitist Group of People out for War with Russia…. most of the Sheeples don’t even know there is the possibility of an all out War with Russia…..which they would Reject if they would know….and yes they will Fall….they’ll have to pay the price for their Treason….Empereur Macroni du Rothschild XVI Get Out the Guillotines bro…..Mrs. May you can be first if you like…the End of a Federal Europe!

FlorianGeyer

The frightening thing I heard yesterday was a question in Parliament asking the government spokesman whether a vote would be taken before any military action in Syria. The reply was that for the safety of UK operatives in Idlib ,there would not be time to have a vote.

This de facto shows that UK operators( troops and spooks) are in Idlib illegally and effectively being used as a tripwire .

Habeas Corpus and an investigation using due diligence is rapidly being ignored in the UK. It is instead the justice of a Mafia state.

Merijn

We are Living in a Global Mafia State….The U.S.A. , the United Kingdom, IsraHell & France are Capo di Tutti Capi…this is what became apparent…They are in BIG PANIC….America just threatened Holland… The Hague Court….they will never send any of their Soldiers to the Hague for War Crimes… they even threatened Judges…

FlorianGeyer

It will be interesting to see how Idlib works out. I am sure that President Putin will have factored in the current bombast of Turkey.

The difference is that the indigenous Dutch population are well educated, even though many are Zionists, they realise abject bullshit propaganda when they see or hear it.

International Counsel Bureau

They did the same thing for World War 1 and World War 2 and the Korean War and the Vietnam War. And every war before or after. They lied. They lied about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. It was all a lie. All about money. The Fed is a lie. Wall Street is a lie. Washington, DC is a lie. The moon landing is a lie. Israel is a lie. JFK knew that. And they killed him.

Promitheas Apollonious

what part of they are a colony of city of london are you missing?

International Counsel Bureau

They were. Now the shoe is on the other foot!

Promitheas Apollonious

i know different but have it any way you manage to connect the dots.

International Counsel Bureau

If you are referring to the Rothschilds, I think they’re overrated today. New York, Washington, DC and Hollywood control. The City of London is Skulls & Bones. Buffoons. Like Boris Johnson. I like what Bannon said in Italy: It’s not a Deep State, it’s an “In-Your-Face State”. I don’t care about Bannon, but I have to agree with him on that. You have to be pretty stupid not to see what is happening when it’s right in your face. The Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians, and others know. Paraguay changed its decision on its embassy in Israel.

Promitheas Apollonious

No I am not referring or base what I say on any of what you saying. And…. politicians never run any western country as they see fit but always follow the orders of who make them and put them where they are.

Same with whom ever you know by name and location. When you stop confusing the puppets for masters and understand the role of each colony they created, then you understand much better what the real picture of globalization is. Mention what you mention to me say that you still on chapter one of globalization.

Concrete Mike

Its the trans nationnal corporations supported by various intelligence agencies.

All working towards a global finincial order. Its the one common thread in everything as I see it.

To give an globalization example.

We have 3 cement plants in say 1000km radius. Yet some concrete suppliers buy there cement powder from greece, boat it to canada, and then distribute it here… why??? Transnationnal corporations with their vested interests. It only works on large volumes, but pushes all he little guys out in the long run.

Walmart is another good example.

FlorianGeyer

I bought cement mostly from Germany,Greece and Spain Spain before the 2008 crash. After that the UK based suppliers were falling over themselves to generate sales. :) The Greek cement works was even owned by RMC that was a British owned company at the time. It was bought by the Mexicans later.

purplelibraryguy

What makes a puppet a puppet, what makes the master the master? Nobody busy climbing over bodies to be a big deal is going to listen to someone’s orders just because. Even if someone gave them a leg up or even groomed them once upon a time, these aren’t the kind of people who care. Once they’ve got power they’ll do what they want unless they still need the “masters”.

What makes puppet masters puppet masters in capitalism is mainly money. The richest rule; they’re the ones with the bribes. You can see who the real puppet masters are by how much cash and stocks and stuff they have.

Promitheas Apollonious

The ones who started this always remain in the shadows and the back scenes. That never changed. You confusing tittles and hierarchy, that the tools of the globalization system has, with the ones who control all those and are the decision makers.

See history even the fake one based on some truths western world has wrote and circulated in their education system and read between the lines and then you see what I mean. Humans been trained to base their conclusions based on what someone said rather than facts who are easy to see if you base your thinking on action (deeds) and result. The reason people are blind is because they follow one politicians or religious leader or another and miss the forest for the tree.

As for the cash you referring to……… they print the money so only to you are important, to them is an illusion they invented and the system to apply on you in order to control you.

Unlike what every one who make the $ their true and only god and measure everything with $, the global players of this world know something you dont.

Money does not equal power. on the other hand POWER is the one that prints the money. So dont confuse your reasoning and priorities and needs to be the same as theirs and they not controlled by what they control you with or base their decision making on money.

purplelibraryguy

And this power comes from . . . what, exactly?

No, in a capitalist society, money is power. Period. Money lets you buy guns, buy politicians, buy laws, buy internet bots, buy covert operatives. Money measures whether you are in the elite group that gets to do the conspiring or not. Money is what they conspire to get more of. The US military goes around doing things which are counterproductive in terms of maintaining the US polity’s power because someone will make money from it. Even military moves to gain political power can be best understood, in the end, as moves to corner certain markets so as to be able to control supply and prices and make money or stop someone else from making it.

People overestimate the ability to rule from the shadows. Institutions drift, people in them have motivations and imperatives different from what the founders had in mind. All conspirators are in it for themselves (lots of real people are not, that’s why they don’t become conspirators). If they see bigger paychecks they jump to the new power.

Sure, “they” print money–but specifically, in the United States the “they” is a group of bankers with some input from the government, except the government is run by politicians who get their campaign money from, among other places, a group of bankers, and accordingly appoint bankers to the Fed. Outside the US it’s a bit different because most of the non-US central banks are arms of the state, public property, so the hold of financial institutions on the reins of power there is entirely based on having the right elites running that state, but it mostly still works. In Venezuela for a time the state recaptured the central bank, but the dollar’s influence there was too great for their central bank to effectively control money. Meanwhile, normal banks “print money” by issuing loans.

But both in terms of controlling central banks and issuing loans, the ability to print money is not quite the same as the ability to give it to yourself. People who own stuff maintain the ownership of the stuff by virtue of laws and institutions about what counts as owning stuff, and they have to be careful about undermining those laws and institutions because if they do it too much, everyone will get in on the act and nobody will believe any more that the fat cats “really” own anything. You can make plenty of money based on the privilege of printing it, windfall profits for sure, but not so much greater than the windfall profits of oil companies or military contractors or software monopolists (who sell a billion copies of something they only had to make once).

Being older money, having longer laid plans, deeper tentacles, doesn’t get you much these days. Never did, really–look at the Renaissance Catholic church. Every time some new Italian family got rich they’d take the damn thing over, suddenly it’s Medici popes, then it’s Borgia popes. Sure, some connections, some knowhow, but basically money wags conspirators, conspirators don’t wag money.

In short, power is structural. In medieval times the economic system was based on land and dukes had power, and troops, and castles, and servants, because they had land. Money was not that important, and if merchants got uppity they would be killed, taxed out of existence, or whatever. They certainly couldn’t go around buying land–land belonged to nobles, and in some weird way to peasants, it was inherited, it couldn’t be just passed around. The structure of the economic system made nobles the bosses.

Now the economic system is based on money, or rather it’s based on ownership and ownership is based on money. Now plutocrats have power, and politicians, and servants, and land, because they have money. There’s a tension created because our political system is supposedly separate from our economic system–but the economics rules. The structure of our economic system makes plutocrats the bosses.

Any conspiracy that tries to fight this, put people in charge who aren’t the richest but the sneakiest, is fighting against the structure in the same way attempts at actual democracy, putting people in charge who aren’t the richest but the most numerous, are fighting against the structure. I’m sure there are some conspirators wandering around, but the people really driving things are the richest individuals or the people in charge of the richest companies, and more broadly the interests of the richest class as a whole–if some one really rich guy tried building think tanks and peddling influence in a way opposed to the general interests of the wealthy, others would come together to oppose him. So like in the US, a lot of rich people don’t do that much politics because they’re more or less OK with what the Koch brothers and so on are doing, but if some of those Koch-type folks went off the rails and started backing socialist policies, a tsunami of funds would materialize to oppose them.

Promitheas Apollonious

i already answer that and what you mistaking is their power over you. I said when they do something they do it not for money but for power. You are the one who think money is their motivation no me. Are you intentional missing the point or you just dont get it?

purplelibraryguy

I’m saying, where does this power come from? My answer: In this economic system, it comes from money. Your answer: From nothing, apparently. Clandestine conspirators are in charge because they’re in charge. It doesn’t work that way.

Promitheas Apollonious

no the power comes from the people you control with the monopoly money and the system you invented. In any case I dont try to convince you. believe what you like.

Empire's Frontiers

The errors are many, but you seem to be ignoring just how few generations, father to son, link us to the old world and the rise of machine power.

Money is meaningless, notice the global ‘debt’ has but one direction and grows detached from anything real?

As Promethias points out, power comes from educating, indoctrinating, millions of young minds every day.

The powerful inherited their bounty, and part of that bounty is your blood and bone.

FlorianGeyer

I would argue that power principally comes from wealth that includes ideas such as religion, such assets that are not spendable money , although they have a lot of that as well in most cases and of course the employed muscle to enforce their writ.

Merijn

The Dollar is Created out of thin air at the moment and is basically worth nothing not even the paper on which it is printed….Money is Based on Trust… the Trust is Gone because of an American Debt of $210,000,000,000,000…if people decide that the Dollar is no longer accepted than you will only have tons of paper…what is Gold? Can you eat that?

FlorianGeyer

For Globalisation to be tight knit the members of the cabal all really need to be part of the same cult which de facto has its own rules etc. Zionism is that cult today in my opinion. The members will still fall out with other but the cult discipline is mostly able to control that and name the victors.

Empire's Frontiers

I usually describe this as Society and the public.

Society has culture we don’t know, but might observe through some appreciation of history.

One glaring difference between the culture of Society and the ingrained culture of the public is the perspective on violence.

Society, the ruling class, the plantation owners, myth makers, globalists, whichever name we choose, embrace and deploy violence as a matter of course.

The public is indoctrinated from childhood onward to abandon violence, shy from it, and think not of it. In fact, most recently I listened to one man suggest his fighting advice to another, ‘Let him hit you first so you don’t go to jail’

Notions of violence among the public are actively suppressed and educated against, reintroduced to only a select few much later in their lives. One might point out violence in film and video games cultivates more violence among the public, but I find such diversions in fact tame man’s violent impulse and act firmly as a source of relief where education and reinforcement alone my not be effective.

All that to say, Society and the public do possess different cultures, and do so by no accident, we’d be keen to observe.

FlorianGeyer

” ‘Let him hit you first so you don’t go to jail’ “. You make a good point. These days especially it is better to avoid violence if possible as the cops tend err on the side of the loser .

Taking the 1st hit is fraught with danger but I have to admit that I have done that in selected circumstances. ‘Hands in pockets, take the hit and wallop’ :) It only works with independent witnesses though.

Concrete Mike

It dont matter wich foot, it has the same ballz

FlorianGeyer

Well that’s a start I suppose. Just think how all that wasted tax payers cash could have been put to better use in Holland to fund civic projects there Merijn .

Merijn

The story doesn’t stop there… a Documentary on Dutch TV revealed Dutch Governmental involvement in Supporting & Financing Headchopping Terrorists in Syria also on the 6 O’Clock News… this is going to be Fun…so even more People will Know…no Longer a Conspiracy Theory but soon a Fact

FlorianGeyer

Is this then the first crack in the Dam that holds back the sea of Truth that will wash away all the propaganda lies ? I do hope so.

Merijn

I never believed they could keep it their Dirty Little Secret….even if it takes a decade… the Truth will come out….

CNN doesn’t surprise me at all anymore, I know what those coward rats are capable of doing, what really surprises me is that there are still a lot of people who believe this shit.

Allan Greedspoon

The real enemy is not CNN, or The New York Times, or the Washington Post or any other deep state sh*t sheets. The real enemy is the UTTER STUPIDITY of us sleepy citizens. If we are stupid enough to believe the crap they are feeding us, then we almost deserve to be deceived. Apathy is enemy number 2. We get so busy with little distractions of our daily lives, that we don’t take the time to analyze what’s really happening in the world around us. We are too complacent. Our focus is on the next football match, when it should be on political awareness. Unfortunately, some people will never wake up because they enjoy the bliss of ignorance . . .

Davki

Here, you’ve got my full support. The efforts to sell yet another chemical attack are pathetic. It is important to have alternative outlets, alternatives to Youtube etc. that is. However, these efforts are also blocked because other big players, China but also Russia censor even more.

Luke Hemmming

Today I went onto the wall street journal facebook page and wrote a comment about exactly what this article talks about. I have made comments on other corporate controlled media outlets facebook pages from time to time. Can I suggest some of you might do the same, but remember to be clear and precise, POLITE and make sure you have your comment backed up with verifiable facts. In other words don’t make outlandish claims if you have no way of proving it correct. There are a lot of dumbed down folks on those FB comments pages who have been brainwashed into the controlled narratives that the authorities are trying to portray so you might from time to time be challenged by someone less informed than yourself. Don’t abuse them even if they abuse you, point out their errors with more facts, be polite and wish them a nice day and leave it at that. That way they can’t come back to you because they will sound stupid and uneducated. No one wants to be seen as stupid do they?

wayupnorth

If American people are so gullible as to believe the above “interview” then I have no sympathy for them. They are child-like and under the thumb of their politicians and media. BANA ALABED HAS NO ENGLISH. SHE CANNOT ANSWER THE SIMPLEST QUESTIONS IN ENGLISH. DON’T BE FOOLED.
