In mid-April 2025, Jordan’s intelligence agency reported the arrest of sixteen people who were allegedly “planning chaos in the kingdom” by supporting the Palestinian resistance in the West Bank.
Further, the representative of the Hashemite autocracy, Mohammad al-Momani, indicated that the detainees were allegedly members of a “disbanded organization,” referring to the local Muslim Brotherhood. After which the Brotherhood issued a special statement, disavowing the incident and indicating that “Jordan’s interests are above all.” Against this backdrop, some Hamas activists condemned the statement.
After the incident, the Zionists immediately stepped up their subversive activities. The so-called “Israeli” electronic intelligence unit, Unit 8200, was seen attempting to interfere with Jordan’s internal structure and exploit social media platforms. The Zionists have previously revealed their plans to prepare for an intervention in Jordan and the occupation of part of the Hashemite kingdom, in order to then connect these captured lands with the previously occupied territory of southern Syria. By creating a huge buffer zone, the IDF seeks to prevent arms supplies to the West Bank and block Iranian attempts to connect the southern Lebanon front through Syria directly to Jordan.
In addition to the growing external threat from the Zionist far-right, the Hashemite autocracy has always been concerned about the Brotherhood’s high approval ratings, which was the main reason for the regime’s old dream of banning the Ikhwans and excluding the organization’s political wing (the Islamic Action Front) from the country’s parliament. In doing so, Abdullah’s autocracy not only eliminates the only opposition, but also does a favor to the Zionists, the Saudis, and the American neocons.
Days later, Jordan’s constitutional court announced a ban on the country’s leading Islamic organization, and the Islamic Action Front expelled three members of its party who were involved in supporting the Palestinian resistance.
What conclusions can be drawn from this story?
1 – the number of supporters of the Palestinian resistance is growing among Jordanians;
2 – the King of Jordan fears more than anything else the terrorist Netanyahu’s plan to evict West Bank Palestinians to the kingdom, so Abdullah is trying to nip any local resistance in the bud to avoid criticism from Trumpists and Zionists. According to the Hashemites, any act of support for the armed struggle of the Palestinians is “a pretext for the ultra-right Zionists to begin an intervention in Jordan”;
3 – The leadership of the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood remains mired in the illusion of the need to “peacefully coexist” within the framework of the pro-Zionist Hashemite autocracy, and therefore avoid any form of armed resistance;
4 – The criticism from Hamas has shown that the leading Palestinian Islamic movement is very dissatisfied with its conformist colleagues from Jordan, which means the beginning of major disputes with a wide range of consequences within the “Ikhwan environment” of Palestine and Jordan;
5 – the fact that a youth cell of Muslim Brotherhood origins has emerged shows that there is a generational divide within Jordan’s main “opposition party,” where the old guard still advocates the senseless old methods of “supporting Palestine” (getting more seats in the kingdom’s parliament, regional cooperation, and endless rallies), while the youth is betting on armed struggle.
The last section is the most important, and it echoes the old confrontation between the “national wing” of the Jordanian Brotherhood and its pro-Palestinian opponents.
Ultimately, a process of forming a local resistance among Palestinians has begun within Jordan, supported by a number of Jordanian tribes. Abdullah’s autocracy is waiting for Hamas cells to emerge, but the situation seems to be conducive to the emergence of a branch of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. October 7, 2023 served as a new impetus for uprisings in Arab countries and the first signs of the coming storm have already begun to appear.
P.S. A little later, Jordanian intelligence services discovered a Lebanese connection, which prompted Zionist analysts to talk about the participation of Hezbollah and its Sunni allies in Lebanon in “undermining the stability of Jordan.”
In this regard, we can state the fact of cooperation between the Jordanian and Lebanese intelligence services in order to capture supporters of the anti-Zionist resistance. Here it is worth asking whether the murder of a professor from the “Islamic Group” by the Zionists is connected with the arrests in Jordan? What if the murder that took place was the result of coordinated actions by the Zionists with their Jordanian and Lebanese allies, as an attempt to “nip in the bud” the beginning of coordination between Hezbollah, al-Jamaa al-Islamiya, Hamas and the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood?
