Israel Shamir: “The Israeli Elections Came to Naught”

Written by Israel Shamir; Originally appeared at The Unz Review

Do not regret the results of Israeli elections. They were a non-event. Practically nothing has changed. Indeed many actors had hoped for change, but those hopes had no grounding in reality.

Israel is doing well, even exceedingly well. The country prospers. Despite high taxes, Israeli highways are crowded with new cars; Israeli housewives load their supermarket wagons with food for the Passover as if they prepare to die of overeating. The Israeli shekel is high like cotton in the summer, and all planes are full to the brim with Israeli vacationers. The weather has been playing for the incumbent as well: glorious Palestinian spring had brought out myriads of flowers and the blossom stays over the Holy Land.

Israel Shamir: "The Israeli Elections Came to Naught"

In such a situation, people do not vote for change. And anyway, no real change had been offered. The new party of generals, called Blue-and-White, after the colours of Israeli national flag (it’s like calling an American party “Stars and Stripes”, or a British party, “Union Jack”), did not propose anything new. They said they would do the same, only better (or worse, for the Palestinians). The old opposition parties of the Left Zionists, Labour and Meretz, have lost their voters: they migrated to the generals. They anyway had nothing to offer, except more gender disorder and identity politics.

PM Netanyahu demonstrated that he has great support with the superpowers. President Trump presented him with the Golan Heights, a slice of Syrian territory occupied since 1967. President Putin presented him with remains of an Israeli soldier killed in action many years ago in Lebanon. Netanyahu flashed selfies made with the two presidents in his effective campaign; he promised everything to everybody, and carried the lot.

Israelis would be ungrateful if they’d vote against the incumbent, and they knew what was good for them. The generals, and other opponents of Bibi, tried to make something of Netanyahu’s coming indictment for corruption; but the general public was not impressed. Apparently, these charges had been used too much and too often to derail a political enemy, and people stopped paying heed.

I noticed it for the first time years ago in Japan, where a very popular politician Mr Kakuei Tanaka had been jailed for taking a bribe from the Lockheed. A young journalist at that time, I was amazed that the Japanese had remained faithful to the imprisoned politician. They thought that all politicians accept graft; the question is: what else they do? And Tanaka did good for them. While it is possible to mobilise media against a person accused of graft, of harassment, of sexual impropriety, or racism, the people in general do not care much about it: they think (rightly) it is just a trick of political adversaries. SJW used it too often, and completely devalued such accusations.

Israelis did not intend to vote against Mr Netanyahu just because his adversaries appealed to their moral judgement. Anyway, Israelis have very little sense of morality, if any. Netanyahu’s racist jibes against the Arab citizens of Israel stoked no fire in Jewish souls.

The Palestinian question did not play at all in the elections. Millions of imprisoned Palestinians in the world’s largest open jail of Gaza were out of Israeli mind. If they would not send a missile now and there, they would be totally forgotten by their Jewish masters, like medieval prisoners in the cellars of the Bastille. On Israeli TV, they showed a sequence from the Zombie Apocalypse of Zombies storming the wall Israelis erected on their borders – following the pictures of Palestinian demonstrators in Gaza. The message was clear and brutal: for Jews, the Palestinians are Zombies that should be kept beyond the (ever-expanding) walls.

Netanyahu played on the edge of a fault: he pushed the Palestinians to his utmost, and then relented when they were about to explode. This cruel tactic was successful: he bombarded Gaza, and then allowed its inmates to fish in the sea (this prerogative had been withdrawn some months earlier). The Gaza government had planned a series of large demos to mark the anniversary of their Great March of Return. But after an Israeli airstrike, they relented, and no large manifestation was allowed on the border. Palestinians are being killed on the daily basis, but in small numbers; and it is being reported on the bottom page of Israeli newspapers as a thing of little importance.

The main competitor to Netanyahu, the Blue-and-White’s General Gantz boasted in his pre-election videos that he killed thousands of Palestinians; he promised that he wouldn’t relinquish Israeli hold on the Golan Heights. So really important issues weren’t even debated in these elections.

What was debated, then? An obscure point of who belongs to the right, and who belongs to the left. In present Israeli parlance, the leftist is a traitor who cares about Arabs and despises Oriental Jews, and that is obviously a marker to be avoided. Very few Israelis (if at all) admit to having left leanings, a curious turn for a country established and ruled by socialists for many years.

Even people on the fringe of the Jewish Israeli society, the Russian Israelis, were all for Jewish nationalism and against socialism and Arabs. This is really silly. They are hardly considered Jews, to begin with. The Ministry of Interior plans to check them for DNA and whether they are Jewish at all. The Russians are weak economically, and their participation in the national discourse is minimal. There is not a single Russian on the national Israeli TV channels. They have a party of their own, the party of Mr Lieberman. However, the main demands of Mr Lieberman are (1) to bring the death penalty upon Arabs, (2) to bomb and invade Gaza, and (3) to make Mr Lieberman the Minister of Defence. And the Russian Israelis voted for him – or for Mr Netanyahu – anyway.

Israelis of Oriental origins who inhabit poor peripheral towns are similar to Russians. They also vote for Netanyahu and for his nationalist right-wing party, Likud. They are proud they vote against the Ashkenazi Blue-and-White Party, though all leaders of Likud are Ashkenazi Jews.

This hatred to the Left in the Israeli discourse had caused a comic effect. A few politicians decided to run their own parties called New Right, Union of the Right etc. One of these parties had been led by Mr Feiglin, an ultra-right-wing libertarian (formerly on the fringe of Netanyahu’s Likud) who called for speedy construction of the Third Temple on the place of Al Aqsa Mosque, for dismantling of social state, for legalisation of light drugs, for annexation of the West Bank and mass expulsion of Arabs. The polls predicted he would get seven or eight seats in the parliament. However, this loony agenda was trashed, and he went back to the political wilderness.

Two rather successful right-wing politicians decided to split from their long-established right-wing religious party and created a New Right Party. One of them is good-looking Ayelet Shaked, the Minister of Justice in the last government who flirted with fascism. Another is the Education Minister in the government, the US-born Naftali Bennett. Their trick failed them, and they found themselves out. Apparently, the offer of the right-wing parties exceeded the demand for this product.

Still one ultra-religious and ultra-nationalist right-wing party had made it to parliament, with its demands for enforcing Jewish religious law in its entirety, suppressing the Arabs and worshipping the late Israeli-American terrorists Rabbi Meir Kahane and Dr Baruch Goldstein. They demand the portfolios of Education and Justice (sic!), as they intend to educate the Israeli children in their vein and to undo the power of the Supreme Court.

The Arab parties did not do as well as they did in the last elections, when they ran as single block. The ambitions of Dr Tibi, a popular Arab deputy, had caused the dissolution of the United Arab List, and the Arabs had to choose between two lists. The sum of two was smaller than it was when they run together. Many Israeli Palestinians voted for Meretz and Labour, too, as they noticed that the Jewish parties do not collaborate with Arab deputies and their presence in the parliament has no influence on their daily life.

There is one good guy we shall keep an eye for, a Hebrew University Professor with PhD from LSE, a firebrand communist, a Jew who was elected by Arabs, Dr Offer Cassif. He compares the Zionists with the Nazis, calls for One State, for the Right of Return, for full equality of a Jew and Goy. At first, he was banned from participation in the elections, but the Supreme Court allowed him to run and he got in. He can be compared to the only righteous man in the Israeli Sodom (Genesis 18) and the only hope of the Knesset to survive the wrath of God.

Now with the elections are finally behind, Netanyahu will have the hard job of making a coalition government that will survive his forthcoming indictment. His partners are perfectly willing to play ball, and to legislate a Netanyahu Is Untouchable Law, but for a price. They will agree on a price, too, do not worry, it is the Israeli public that will pay the price, but they knew it when they voted like they did.

Is there a chance to change things in Israel, with such a Parliament? Well, yes. A military defeat can change minds, like it did in many countries many times. Otherwise, it is hard to imagine what would cause Netanyahu to change his course in view of the US support, Saudi friendship, Syrian weakness, and good election results. He is not for resolving conflicts, he is for managing conflict, and he is doing that well.

Russia’s Putin plays ball with Bibi, too. Perhaps he does not like Bibi’s relentless attacks on Syria, perhaps his heart goes for Palestinians, but he is a cautious statesman, and he does not want to antagonise the man who can mobilise American Jews into an action against Russia. There are enough American Jews against Russia and against Putin as things are; Putin does not need more. Besides, the Israeli opposition is not keen on Putin; they are lining up with the US Democrats and with Brussels Europeans. They called for direct intervention in Syria on the side of ‘moderate rebels’, while Netanyahu had kept Israel out of Syrian War and did not obstruct Putin’s Syrian campaign.

Will Netanyahu annex the whole of the West Bank, as he said during the election campaign? Probably not; as nothing will be obtained by such an act but making apartheid visible. Instead, he is likely to annex every place where Jews live in the West Bank, turning the territory of Palestine into a slug-eaten cabbage leaf. He also may annex Area C, a bigger part of Palestinian territory presently under Israeli military control and Palestinian civilian administration. The Jewish settlers demand it, for, they say, Palestinians damage the contiguity of the Jewish settlements.

The Jewish religious parties came out stronger in the new parliament. They also enjoy a very high natural growth with families of 5 to 8 children average. They are not eager to compete on the labour market, and prefer to be paid for studying Talmud and having kids. While it may annoy some Israelis, in my view, it is an internal issue of little interest or importance for anybody outside the Jewish milieu.

Is there a possible solution for the conflict? It is definitely not the Deal of the Century of Mr Jared Kushner, some yet undefined arrangement usually done with smoke and mirrors. Probably One Democratic State, where Jews and non-Jews are equal, is the only possible solution, as the place is too small to divide but large enough to share.

Thanks for this article.. Quite a good overview over the whole Israeli political scene.

And i do join in the conclusion: “Is there a possible solution for the conflict? It is definitely not the Deal of the Century of Mr Jared Kushner, some yet undefined arrangement usually done with smoke and mirrors. Probably One Democratic State, where Jews and non-Jews are equal, is the only possible solution, as the place is too small to divide but large enough to share.”

Only problem is, that this will only be possible with a US president not under the influence of APAIC, who has a clear goal to make this or the previous UN resolutions happen. Other than that: Things will stay the same, Isreal will expand its control, with the whole MENA powerless and impotent to change a thing. And again: Any military attack on Israel will be crushed by BOTH US and Russia, as both Nations have stated time and time again. With the A-Bomb if needed. So this is out of the question. And the Arab Nations and Iran know this very well. At least their leadership.

S Melanson

A good article. I hope SF publishes more articles like this that are well written and make the reader think. The articles lack of bias appreciated.

As for a one state solution, I suggest examining the minority recommendation to the United Nations 1947 by the UN Commission to study the Jewish problem in mandatory Palestine. The majority report recommended partition while the minority position proposed a one state federation.

We say the Jews stole the land they occupy. They did not. They were given the land in a UN vote for partition. Israel did not exist so had no vote. The Arab states voted against as a block while the rest mostly voted for partition to create a Jewish National Homeland (this was the actual language used in official UN documents) at the expense of Palestinians- the Arabs made clear they would attack any Jewish State so the consequences of partition we’re understood at the time of the vote.

If the argument is that Israel controlled the UN committee or other similar arguments, then I would ask why the Zionist would permit formation of an indefensible nation state surrounded by hostile Arab neighbors. They accepted the partition plan as it still gave them a home and the Zionists prepared for the coming war with Arabs while most everyone else including the Arabs assumed the Jews would lose. It was as if that was the plan, give the Zionists a homeland as a trap, a joke on the Jews to destroy them. Well it did not work out that way.

Today we have this festering problem and the blame is neither to be put on the Jews or the Palestinians as it is us, the international community that voted into being this mess. And how to fix it is answered by the very UN Commission that recommended partition – the committee stated the problem in mandatory Palestine is an international responsibility and to resolve the problem requires the international community to take ownership for what was done 70 years ago and fix the problem instead of blaming Jews and Palestinians in contradiction to the very commission report adopted for implementation of a partition – the newly formed UN mandated to succeed the failed League of Nations to maintain world peace. Well I could not imagine a more disastrous start for the UN that set the condition (knowingly) for endless conflict and misery.

verner

they did not – it was a one side transfer of rights from uk lloyd george to theodor herzel and no league of nations confirmation. so the squatters have never had any right of the land since it was stolen from the palestinians and the only way forward is to kick the squatters right into their next diaspora since a right can never be based on a fraudulent document, regardless of how much time that has passed.

S Melanson

It was the UN resolution to partition mandatory Palestine that enabled bringing into existence the Jewish nation state. The Balfour declaration of 1917 was a ploy to get Jewish cooperation in the war effort particularly against the Ottomans. Britain then retreated from its position after the war much to the dismay of Zionists that trusted Britain much like Sykes-Picot showed the Arabs what Britain’s words were worth. Not much.

I do not dispute it is stolen land but the UN was the body that partitioned against the will of Arabs. See my comments in this thread as I expand on this.

verner

the entire thing with the jews flocking into palestine was the result of lloyd george giving the jews the right to settle in palestine and the receiver of this was theodor herzel. lg was unhappy with herzels request and tried to make him accept land in uganda or land in south america but those were not accepted – only palestine would be good enough. this was the de facto matter that started the influx of jews and the UN-resolution years later just confirmed the de facto situation. lg was right in being reluctant of giving the jews the right to move to and settle in palestine.

and given the squatters grasping proclivity and shameless ethnic cleansing of the palestinians and land theft, murders and operating concentration camp gaza. the squatters have forfeited any and all rights to be sovereign country and must therefore be evicted from palestine – it will happen but it will take some time. the best hope presently is the alliance of turkey, iran, syria, backed by qatari money, iraq and hezbollah can also be included in the axis of resistence.

1691

Hmmm, may I remind you who created UN and Nato and why? And who do they serve?

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

Important point for sure. Sadly, S Melanson also has a point: The ofher countrys all could have voted differently. They had the right too. And some voted for creating Israel because of the wide spread feeling after the end of the Nazi regime that this would be the only logical step. Some voted because of US pressure. Sure. But THEY voted. THEIR corrput leaders did not have the balls to say NO to the US. Or profitied from the US personally.

THATS the problem with being a US vassal state: That the mostly democraticly elected leaders dont have the integrity to stand against foreign influence, may it be US, or whatever. AND that the voters of politicians who are US bitches vote them. And even vote them again, after those voters know those politicians are corrupted by the US.

As long as most voters in US vassal states vote politicians that dont fight US pressure, those voters are as guilty of the US crimes as the US herself. They could end it, but are too lazy or corrupted themselves.

Every Empire, every Mafia, every dictatorship can only live because of the mass of people who support them and do their dirty deeds. Without them, the implode.

So US need to be blamed, but every country that does prefer to be their bitch too. Thats why IMHO the arab public opinion that only Israel and US and Iran are to blame for everything is BS. The arab leaders are also responsible. They sold out Palestine and then fill their pockets with US $. And the arab public does nothing, aside from attacking Iran.

They all could influence the situation, but shift their responsibility by blaming the next one.

And that wont do a thing, it only cements the whole mess.. bravo.

1691

FYI: 30 UN member states do not recognize the state of israhell. What you wrote is very naive and lacks objectivity. Learning is not limited to reading news. Read more if you want to be taken seriously. As for empires, mafias and dictatorship….. ha ha ha I thought we live in 21st century. Like it or not they are a “thing” of the past. Usa might be playing the role of global policeman for the Roman club but even that role they play badly. As for the empire…. wishful thinking? or a burst bubble? or just none of the above!

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

;) Why so hurt?

Yes, 30 states have the back bone to do so. And i applaude them for it and their courage. Still, my point holds: The leaders and politicans of the other nations beside those 30, those who dont have the courage to stand against the US, are resposible for the votes they cast. And their voters are resposiblle if they repeatedly vote for polticians who are US vassals. Just like the EU with Iran: first they claim to defend the Iran deal, and now the quietly destory the deal with doing the US will on Irans ballistic missles. Those EU leaders can talk all they want, at the end of the day they act in US and israel Interest instead of the interest of their own countrys. So they are as resposible as the US and Isreal is. And their voters are too, if they dont vote those spineless boot lickers out of office. Now what of those points you dont agree with and why precisely? I think you did not really read what i wrote but just got defensive without understanding that i made the some point as you, just added a addititonal factor to the equation.. ;)

And really, Empires, Mafias and dictatorships are a thing of the past?

Okay if you say so.. I say that is very naive.. ;)

1691

Whatever you say honey, I honestly don’t care. I might be naive, they might be delusional. Who cares? Every dog has its day.

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

Well, that is all our common destiny sweetheart. :) At least we got our heart on the right place and search for a better future not only for own very own benefit but for other human beings too. That has got to be worth something, even if we are both delusional. I hope.. But yeah, it may be a delusion. :)

S Melanson

Good reply. I like wrote above, thank you.

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

No thanks needed for what is a duty to give. :)

S Melanson

I think you do care and that is a good thing, even if I do not always agree with you. I still want you to post and will continue to read what you have to say.

1691

1.You did not answer my question. 2. What you want is irrelevant. I do what I want! 3. Of course I care! I care about myself, my family, my country and life on Mother Earth. I do not give a penny about dontbelievewhatever’s opinion or what you are trying to push down my throat on this platform. The fact is: the whole world is threatened by the aggression of usa and israhell. This does not come from the people of the countries mentioned above but by a few who have accumulated wealth by speculations and murder. Their policies are putting in danger the lives on Earth regardless of culture or religion. UN serves them. It’s a fact. States have turned into vassals not out of respect but out of fear. Colonization is an on-going ambition of theirs. What you promote here and now is an attempt to reach the ignorant and manipulate them into believing that we have to face the legal side of the matter which is groundless, yes, GROUNDLESS, as we all know that UN and NATO serve the rotten-schild &co. Is it not time to bring into existence the life of a new body that will serve the people and erase the “might is right” attitude? Yes, ME is a hot spot right now. Why? The conflict might affect more countries in the region and the whole world. Can that be prevented? Yes, but this is not what rotten-schild& co want. What has been done to prevent it? Pardon? Yes, nothing. Bibi, the front-runner is doing everything to serve the masters even if it would mean another holohoax. The jewish people are waiting for the “goods to be delivered” and multiplying like rats. Parasiting is easy, isn’t it? It’s easy to brainwash the fools and make them believe they are “the chosen” ones although this might cost them their lives. If their leader doesn’t care about them why should I?

S Melanson

You are right, I did not answer your question and that was an oversight on my part. But if you do not care about my opinion, then why ask me for my opinion on a matter? Further, you find the way I express my opinion to be offensive – ramming down your throat. But since you asked or should I say demanded my opinion, I assume then that my expressing an opinion is permissible if you demand my opinion. Ok, so I am to speak only when spoken to. Got it.

I point out you express strong opinions yourself, and rather forcefully. In many cases I agree with you such as your characterization of the ruling class as bent on colonization as this is what they want and what others want is irrelevant as they will submit out of fear. Many would agree with your assessment.

Now I Draw your attention to your second point informing me you do not care what I want as you will do as you want. So If you want to enslave me, my wanting to be free and not to be enslaved is irrelevant as it is what you want that matters. Is this not the very attitude you attribute to the ruling class whom you detest?

Perhaps you may want to rethink your philosophy.

1691

Ha ha ha. You are very good at beating around the bush. By the way, this site is not the place for getting personal.

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

Well, you are a wicked women. And besides your clearly damaged psyche, the deep hate that seems to drive your soul, the black and white world view that is always an undeniable fact of a borderline personality disorder (and most likely trauma).. I hope you find your peace, and can learn that the world has more actors than a maniac psychosis allows.. Yeah, Israel acts against international law, has an increasing extremistic, theocratic and, anti-democratic, corrupt and authorian politic and leadership, and acts like that, while being able to influence the political class in the USA to their liking. But besides this point, there are many other factors at play, many other bad shit happening, many others who threaten life on earth and peace. Israel and their influence on the US are a big geopolitical factor, but there are many many more powerful actors to analyse and put into the equation. That was my point. But i see you are trapt in your as you so well established that word, delusion of yours. Your heart may be at the right place, but you are running in circles.. So i hope you find some peace for yourself, and loose the thorn in your psyche.. And the trauma that drives you to focus your hate and your whole world view and focus on a single group of human beings.. No matter what these group of people are, what crimes they do or do not commit.. They are not alone on this planet, and not the only ones who could influence the world. So take care, all the best. PS: What you call “holohoax” was what my grandfather called Ostfeldzug. He was there, he saw it with his own eyes, and was guilty too.. And he said he was gladfull to the Russians that they only took him for some years as POW…

1691

That explains your distorted perception.

DontBelieveEitherPropaganda

Said the women who did read my comment, but never discusses any concrete point because of her fear that this might break her world view. But okay, i leave you alone, after i ask you: now that you imply that my grandfather lied about the war (and about his traumas, and that is a thing nearly no one lies about), tell me: Why should he? He was certainly no lefty, in fact a deutsch-nationaler, and proud wearing the Hakenkreuz. But he like most Nazis saw the mass murder as a grave crime, and more a shame for his beloved country. He felt betrayed and used, like most of his generation. What i dont get is, as a German i know that the most notirous old Nazis never even thought about why they should deny the Holocaust. It was a fact for every one of this Generation. In fact a minority was always proud what they did, and that now 70 years later some UK or US person believe this to be a hoax is just funny for them.. And to the allegation that those childhood experiences with my Grandfather did influence me: Certainly they did. But differently as you allegedge: While i see the Nazi regime as a shame for my country, i have compassion for every human, nazis and jews included. I can seperate the psyche, the moral and intellectual aspects of a person when i judge them. I moved above the black and white world view when i found the parts that connect me. When you see the bad in yourself, you loose the ability to point a finger at others. I had friends from Antifa, and Nazi friends, just to name a few extremes.

And i have always discussed with everyone, and always will. And i see the good and bad of everyone, me included, so i can not see the world as shining knights vs. some myserious exclusive evil that is responsible for everything that goes wrong. Actually that is my whole point: To look above the narrative (or the equally distorted counter narrative). Neither the most extremistic and racsist + theocratic jewish zionists nor Hitler were the devil. Too me they are both humans, albeit with much more bad sides than good. And i respect them as human beings, and while i will fight boths political influence and ideology, i dont need to put those groups into some childish black and white world view. Or make them subhumans, like Nazi did for jews, and like many Antifas do today for everyone critizing the state of Israel and its policys. So actually, it is in fact a pretty big strength of mine to not be influenced by a single power or group, and to be able to see each human as such. No matter the deeds they did, the crimes, the ideology or suppused values.

As much as i have a thing for Borderline women, you said yourself in another post you do not care about other opinions here. And while i dont judge you for missing empathy, it means you dont want to discuss, but to preach your world view. And the logical conclusion is that everything that does not fit your world view is being ignored by you (the famous cognitive dissonace). So i wish you all the best for finding some peace of mind and learn to love yourself and loose your hate and the subconsious traumas that drive your rage. I truly do, and i truly know the pain you feel.

But if you refuse to answer what i wrote, any try for discussion is useless. By girl..

Helen4Yemen

Please make sure to understand that it is the corrupt Arab regimes who are against Iran and not the Arab people, big difference.

If there was a Jewish holocaust, then those who caused the holocaust were responsible for giving them a piece of land. Please tell me how the European Jew coming to Palestine, a land inhabited by indigenous non Europeans, was the logical solution? Let us not forget that by the early 1980s, European Jewry was ready to invade Palestine. Whether there was a holocaust or not, European Jewry had begun to understand that conquering Palestine with the help of the western nations who hated them was very possible and they were never going to give it up.

https://i.imgur.com/93mOelj.png

Who voted for partition? Europeans who hated the Jews did in order to get rid of them! How many African, Asian countries voted? Not a single Middle Eastern or Muslim country did. Palestine was used as good riddance for the white Jews the Europeans hated.

S Melanson

This is true and speaks to my point that the partition plan was designed to fail so that the new Jewish state would be xtinguished by Arabs by pushing a plan knowing the hostile response – this seems hardly Jew freindly, more like a sick joke on the Jews and the Arabs as well as they are being fashioned against their will into tools to eliminate a European problem.

How hypocritical to criticize Arabs and Jews as if they are petulant children that cannot get along in the sandbox. The partition plan was designed to create conflict but in my opinion, it was assumed by the architects of the partition plan that the Jewish State would not survive. Well it did survive and remains a reminder of what was done 70 years ago. Time to face the music and take responsibility…

Joe Kerr

Interesting that the USSR voted with the US for partition, while India and Pakistan both voted against.

1691

The bolsheviks/jews were ruling USSR at the time.

The Tsar was still very much in charge of Russia in 1903 (date of the aforementioned newspaper article). As a matter of fact, Russia was on board with Britain and France to carve up the Middle East. The secretive Sykes-Picot agreement was initially known as the Sykes-Picot-Sazonov.

Hello, good evening,

One more interesting article about Julian Assange

Nice history lesson. But technically, it was not for the international community to give. Nevertheless, they are established there already so Palestinians must now work with what was dealt. You are right, the UN made this mess. Usually, it would just be a convention for protected persons or such. But if it did not do so at that time, zionists would still have found a way. Moreover, chance for destabilizing middle east was too tempting.

S Melanson

I realize now what I wrote was not clear enough on a number of points and see some of my replies in this thread to clarify. You are correct in what you say but I caution the assumption the Zionists would still have found a way. They may have but the international community cannot wash their hands on the argument it made no difference because it would happen anyway. Even if it did, possibly the Zionists would have realized their nation state in a manner less divisive than the UN partition plan.

Helen4Yemen

I am Arab and I am offended by your comment, you tried to make it appear as if this is a conflict between two indigenous peoples like Pakistan and India. No it is not. This is a case of a white European who told the world he was Israelite. The entire Zionist leadership gave their primary reason for wanting Palestine being the land of their ancestors. The European Jew is completely European who faked his European identity as Israelite the invaded our land. We went to see this European gone the same way the Algerian just wanted the French gone and the Kenyans wanted the British gone. Never lose sight of the fact that this is a European invader and very alien to our region. His presence in my region makes me feel very uncomfortable. Can you sense my anger? Christian Europe used our land to remove the Jews with whom they had a conflict for generations and finally found peace at our expense. I feel nothing but revulsion and disgust by the presence of this European Jew who invaded our land, raped our women, expelled and murdered our people. Do the Europeans not have enough land in Europe for the European Jew? To add insult to injury, this European obtained guarantees from other Europeans to come to his aid if he fell threatened and the Western Powers never disappointed this white man in my region. There is no another solution except for the white man to peacefully vacate from our land. The Arabs have to come up with the only solution to make this European migrant in my region pay such a heavy price that Poland would you be beckoning.

If that is how it came across I apologize, that was not my intent. I believe the lands were not the international community’s right to give to Jews for a homeland, especially given the unified Arab opposition. The point I make is the international community seems to forget who gave the land to the Jews in violation of the Palestinians basic rights and at there expense. The international community needs to own up to the tragic wrong they did and fix the mess they created.

Of course the Jews took what was offered to them but the international community should not have offered in the first place as if it was there’s to give. To give something away means they must possess that which they give away so really the international community de facto stole the land to give to the Jews using the UN to give the act a false veneer of legitimacy.

It was not legitimate and the international community has the responsibility to fix this mess as was recognized from the get go by the UN commission on resolving mandatory Palestine.

I want to also address one particular myth. The Arabs have been criticized for boycotting in 1947 the Commission investigation as a way of putting the blame on the Palestinians for their plight. This is disingenuous as the boycott was the correct action else the Arabs are legitimizing a process that was illegitimate to begin with. The Arabs opposed the mandate of the UN Commission as it explicitly included a range of possible recommendations that involved partition of land that was not theirs to give away regardless of the merits of supporting the creation of a Jewish nation state. It cannot be done at the expense of others as if Arabs are less worthy – the partition plan was inherently racist which violated the central principles of the UN Charter.

The international community have no moral high ground and I am suggesting Arabs and Jews both to hold the international community to account as they are responsible for creating this fiasco and have an obligation to take concrete steps to address the problem to try to fix it. I do not excuse the Zionists, I just want to draw attention to how it all began and not to excuse the international community for their role – a crucial one I would say.

I hope this helps explain my point

Thank you for your comment and I enjoyed reading it. I would like to make the following points.

1) Before the land could be given, somebody had to open the doors of Palestine for the foreigners to come in. That was a main thing. The Ottomans were getting very strict with a European Jews, they knew what they were up to and they were forbidden to go to Palestine but anywhere else. Then they came up with a plan to have any Jewish person coming to Palestine to surrender their passport and they would be issued with a temporary permit to stay in Palestine and then on our way to the airport pick up their passport. Why did the Ottomans take such severe measures? Because European Jewry was coming like locusts and they were never going to surrender their lust for Palestine.

2) If you haven’t looked at the map Zionists presented during the 1919 Paris Peace Conference, it was huge. And the feeling one gets from the way the Zionists were talking to the allied forces was that this was land promised to them in exchange for …? In exchange for what? Jewish financial contribution for the war.

3) People need to remember that when the European Jew arrived almost none of the Arab countries were independent nations and did not have independent military forces to prevent foreign invasion.

4) The primary force that made Zionism possible was the extraordinary hatred the Europeans felt for the European Jews and how desperately they wanted them out of Europe.

I believe the promises to Jews was to obtain Jewish cooperation in the war effort, particularly against the Ottomans. What the Jews presented may have been promised but with the war over, the UK did not honour commitments, at least as was understood by Zionists. This is one reason for growing opposition by Zionists to British rule in mandatory Palestine- particularly when Britain put breaks on immigration of Jews into Palestine. This also hardened Zionists leading to a split which Netanyahu’s father was a part of that advocated a more violent approach to achieving goals and argued purchasing land was not enough. Ironically, violent acts by Zionists led to Britain designating certain Zionist groups as terrorists.

The Arabs are familiar with UK false promises- Sykes-Picot was a major betrayal and I hope one day France and Britain apologize to Arabs for this shameful stab in the back of Arabs rising up against the Ottomans based on empty promises.

Colonizers and occupiers have no rights. For piece to succeed, Israel must withdraw and return the Syrian Golan Heights to Syria. Palestinians right to return must be implemented, and all apartheid laws abolished, and a constitution must be drafted. Palestinians must be compensated for pain and suffering. Their properties must be returned, and all their grievances must be addressed.

Saddam Hussein

Israel doesnt exist, its all Occupied Palestine.

Zionism = EVIL

But don’t tell that to the Jew Putin who is looking for dead Zionists in Syria and then holding parades for them in the Kremlin while Russian dead are treated like shit and buried in secret.

The European Jew did not come for Palestine, he came for a region all the way from the Nile to the Euphrates. Zionist leaders were not shy about their agenda. The problem is that except for some hocus-pocus in the Bible, this white man has no connection to our region. According to his DNA, he’s one of the purest Europeans at 99% European. I ask you now: What does this European want some us? Our land was used to solve a problem between the European Jew and the European Christians and if either one thinks that we’re going to be happy with that, they are delusional. This European migrant is directly responsible for wrecking Iraq among many other places in the Middle East. He is a malignant tumor that must be excised and thrown back to Europe where he belongs. This European cannot expect to live in our region where he is rejected by the entire people of the region.

With the rise of Khazar nationalism egged on by Netty, Shamir’s one nation ideal is withdrawing into fantasy land. The only solution is the economic takeover of the U.S. by China, and the destruction of the parasite.
