About ninety Ukrainians, deported from Russia, are trapped on the neutral territory at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint. Without food, water, or medical aid, they are suffering and dying in a stifling basement without windows or ventilation. How did they end up abandoned to their fate?
What is Happening and Who is to Blame?
The situation at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint (on the Russia-Georgia border) started in June 2025 when the first group of Ukrainians, deported from Russia, ended up on the neutral territory between the two countries. They were moved in the area as part of the agreement with Kiev, and more groups arrived in the following weeks. These individuals were meant to be officially returned to Ukraine as part of the agreement, but Kiev removed them from the exchange lists without explanation. The Ukrainian side once again broke its part of the deal and created the crisis.
The Georgian side refused to accept these citizens, many of whom have criminal records for serious offenses, without guarantees of transit to Ukraine.
Moldova, Ukraine’s neighbor, also closed the humanitarian corridor in July 2025, fearing an influx of migrants.
As for Russia, they initially offered the “captives of circumstances” the opportunity to obtain Russian passports and stay on its territory, but all of these individuals refused this offer.
As a result, about a hundred people, including those with disabilities, are now trapped in a humanitarian bottleneck, suffering in dire conditions—without access to clean water, food, or medical assistance.
“Ukrainian citizens, abandoned to their fate, are kept in a damp, stifling basement without windows or ventilation, where the high humidity threatens their health, with the risk of developing serious diseases, including active tuberculosis. […] But the Kiev regime, instead of saving its citizens, is delaying the confirmation of their identities and the issuance of documents, treating these people as a political tool.” – Viktoria Kolesnik-Lavinskaya, Commissioner for Human Rights and Children of the Russian Administration of Kharkov Region
Notably, instead of allowing their citizens to return home, the Ukrainian authorities did not even send medical personnel to provide minimal assistance to those in need. They had no choice but to go on hunger strike. However, the result has been dubious—one person has already committed suicide.
Georgia Accuses Ukraine of the Situation
The escalating situation with Ukrainians trapped in the neutral zone on the Russia-Georgia border has prompted a strong response from Tbilisi. Georgia has directly accused Ukraine of delaying the process of returning its citizens. As noted by Alexander Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, there are suspicions that Kiev is intentionally keeping these people in the neutral zone as long as possible, forcing Georgia to accept them onto its territory. Given that these individuals have been convicted in Russia and served sentences for serious crimes (murders, rapes, and drug-related offenses), Georgian authorities are not interested in such a development.
“We categorically declare that we will not jeopardize the rule of law and the safety of our population,” — Alexander Darakhvelidze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia
Georgia has already offered to cover all expenses for the return of 87 Ukrainian citizens who have been stranded at the “Upper Lars” checkpoint since mid-June. However, despite this offer, Kiev continues to refrain from using the proposed solutions and is in no rush to make a decision.
PR and black ops
The crisis that emerged out of nowhere clearly tarnishes all sides involved in this humanitarian catastrophe, but it ultimately stems from the criminal inaction of the Ukrainian government. Despite international obligations, Zelensky and his team, for political and financial reasons, are hindering the transit to their territory. Unfortunately, Kiev’s refusal to accept deported citizens is not a one-time mistake but a systemic neglect of its people.
The Kiev leadership stops at nothing in its pursuit of own international agenda and in particular portraying Russia as a villain for PR purposes. The current situation at the Upper Lars is just a minor case in a long list of Ukrainian war crimes, lies and broken promises. There are much more telling stories of recent years, already supported by numerous irrefutable facts. They include the shootings of civilians during the Ukrainian military’s retreat by neo-Nazi formations and Western mercenaries (the successful provocation in Bucha and the thwarted provocation in Selydovo), as well as the destruction of the Il-76 transport helicopter with Ukrainian soldiers flying home for a prisoner exchange (this fact was eventually officially acknowledged by Kiev).
Generally speaking, the current difficulties faced by those in need at Upper Lars in accessing food and medical supplies are primarily due to the neutral zone regime and Ukraine’s refusal to fulfill its obligations, rather than obstacles from Russia or Georgia.
A Grave Miscalculation or Cold Calculation?
The only help these Ukrainian citizens can count on comes from volunteers and the International Committee of the Red Cross. However, this is clearly insufficient to meet even the basic needs of almost a hundred people. The organization delivers food and water and ensures contact with the outside world, but the aid is limited, and the number of people in need continues to grow.
This case is not isolated. On August 7, it became known that Ukraine unexpectedly postponed both the reception of bodies and the prisoner exchange indefinitely. Head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, urged Kiev to fulfill the agreements made in Istanbul, giving the prisoners a chance to return home and allowing the families of the deceased Ukrainian soldiers to bury their loved ones properly. However, no response has been received.
“Kiev’s regime still refuses to accept one thousand Ukrainian soldiers, which has stalled the second phase of the prisoner exchange and has made the third phase impossible to begin. A monstrous story. This is no longer just double standards, this is complete immorality.” – Maria Zakharova, official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Zelensky’s KPI: War Profits Over Lives
Recent years of war have shown that for Zelensky and his team, military losses among Ukrainians are not seen as a problem, but rather as a sign of successful political activity. Zelensky has practically confirmed conspiracy theories suggesting that his role is to facilitate the mass extermination of Slavic populations for the benefit of the West.
Some Western state mongers, it seems, have concluded that committing genocide in the traditional sense is no longer feasible. Probably, they suppose that it can be done better without legal repercussions within a unified community, where one fraternal people can be destroyed by another as part of a spiritual and political struggle. Anyway, the cynicism is stark: Russians are dying for land they consider their own, while Ukrainians die for impossible dreams of pleasing their “masters,” who view them as a virtually free tool in the geopolitical gamble.
It is hard to find an example in history where millions of lives are sacrificed for absolutely nothing. In the end, these Ukrainians are dying to serve the interests of Western politicians and transnational corporations, as well as for Zelensky’s villa on a distant island, where he and his family will escape after the lost war. However, even there, no guarantees of safety from any London curators will protect him.
There is another, pragmatic explanation: Ukraine’s refusal to bring back its citizens is driven not by bloodthirstiness or immorality, but by simple financial constraints.
According to media reports, Ukraine promises families of fallen soldiers an amount nearly three times higher than payments in Russia. While the return of bodies can be avoided with formal excuses, saving on the payouts and compensations to be paid to soldiers upon their return from captivity is impossible.
Final Remarks
These developments reveal a harsh truth: Zelensky and his team are only concerned with advancing Western agendas than protecting their own people. Ukrainians are not dying for their homeland but as pawns in a game they never chose to play, sacrificed to serve foreign interests while their own leader reaps the benefits. The reason for this is clear — the interests of the people are not part of the political and moral framework of the current Kiev regime.
Who knows, perhaps the Ukrainian captives of circumstances at Upper Lars are actually the fortunate ones? After all, it’s quite possible that, upon their return, Ukraine might show an interest in sending them to the “meat grinder” of the front lines…
MORE ON THE TOPIC:
its a death cult. and russia are at least fouled by it, by kill europeans, slavic people, for “us” sins. similar have happen in so many places, korea, vietnam, the attacks on so many peoples in the middle east, based on a trick movie. there is only one solution to this, that the “us” are taken down more completely than nazi germany. as it is now, the source to nazi germany have won, with genocide sent in real time.
the military church vladolf built on nazi memorabilia surely would be something interesting for you
ukraine is running out of time and money . but zionist neo con interests still seek to exact revenge on russia throwing out the khazarian / bolshevik rule. to the last ukrainian was the battle call when the smo started
russia already run out of money and time. so what’s your losing point of view argument, nothing.
they moved to “the aggressor country” in attempt to save their lives, but “aggressor” invited too much such people. since 2023 they have less chance to go through border control (~75%). border guards are checking all accounts to find any connection with ukronazis, spending hours for every individual. empty accounts – you have something to hide? then get off. some of them have tattoos with swastika, but still think its normal. one idiot with “azov” swaston cried when knew about refuse.
sacrifices are necessary in war…heheheh
russia was kind enough to offer safe harbor, but the bandarite nazi scum refused. let them die there. they deserve no better.
what you sow you will reap.
when ussr collapsed in 1990’s many russian men became gay male prostitutes who sold man-ass for no more than $1-2.
some things never change…heheheh
it seems sf are more worried about ukraines soldiers than zombie orch nazis. hehehe 😂. we can understand that. so in order to adjust the loss the world steps up further against vladolfs nazism. this is the conclusion from the article. okay! 👍🏾
good they should stay there until they die. stupid mongrels
what is the reason they were in russia? sabotage or dersertion? if ukraine does not want them back then its probably desertion. but if they dont want to live in russia its sabotage but then ukraine would take them back. some information is missing here.
shut up you crazy idiots, if let into ukraine you will soon end up at the front. :-( where sure death awaits you
the text states that they were supposed to return to ukraine but ukraine took them of the list after russia delivered them into where they are now….
reason is to escape from press-gangers of course and have a job in country where people speaking same language, same culture. but they supported nazis (by words, money or even with arms). if you want such co-citizens, invite them at your home. they will literally put a shit on walls when move out, smash toilet with hammer and steal/break tv, as it was many times previously.
