The Russian Navy will receive three Project 23370M multifunctional search-and-rescue cutters by 2018, the official representative of the Navy Igor Dygalo reported to journalists on Friday.

“It is planned that the search-and-rescue forces of the Navy will be replenished with three new multifunctional, modular search-and-rescue protection 23370M cutters from 2016 to 2018. As a result, by the year 2018 there will be fifteen 23370 and 23370M cutters in the Navy”- TASS cites Dygalo.

At present, the officer reminded, the Navy has 12 cutters of the 23370 type. Five of them are located in the Baltic Sea, four cutters form part of the Caspian Flotilla and the remaining three are located in the Black Sea.

Modular cutter-catamarans of the 23370 project are intended for use as a platform for various special equipment. They can be used as a diving and search-and-rescue vessel, fire and environmental protection cutters. As Dygalo explained, the modernized 23370M project is notable for increased dimensions, faster speed and better living and working conditions for the crew.
