The Unknown War is an American 20-part series that documents the World War II conflict between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union.
Today, SouthFront shares the 13th part of the series titled “The Liberation of Ukraine”. With the start of the Nazi invasion in 1941, the Soviets had to abandon Kiev. For more than two years the city was occupied. The Nazis almost completely destroyed it.
In 1943, after the victory in Stalingrad and at the Kursk Bulge, the front began to move to the West. The Red Army began the liberation of Ukraine.
Hitler hoped to stop the Soviets with the defensive “Eastern Wall” that the Nazis had erected from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. They considered the Dnieper a key position for their defense.
“The Dnieper would sooner flow backwards than the Russians would be able to cross it,” Hitler stated at the time.
The Dnieper seemed to be an insurmountable obstacle, and yet the Red Army managed to cross the river, break through the defenses and liberate Kiev on November 13 of 1943. Nearly 280,000 Nazi troops were killed, wounded or captured during the battle, which left no doubts about the upcoming Soviet victory.

putin is being so benevolent and patient. if he wanted he could quickly cross the dnieper and go all the way to the vistula à la bagration. if zelenskyy the clown doesn’t capitulate in tùrkiye then i donàt see why putin should be continuing to be so tolerant. nice guys finish last.
you sound like vanya — but seriously mr.putin said from the beginning he wont copy the usa shock & awe wars which have killed approx 30 million world citizens since the 40,s ,in any case he would be killing slav civilians and that doesn’t sit right with him.

russia starved a population to death just because, it didn’t matter who came to help end the genocide that the russians were carrying out in ukraine, unfortunately it was the nazis who fell from the sky who helped the ukrainians to free themselves from the russian plague
