More than 7,000 civilians and fighters of the National Defense Forces (NDF) have been evacuated from the besieged towns of al-Fu’ah and Kafriya in the eastern Idlib countryside so far, the pro-government blog al-Masdar News reported on July 19.

The Hezbollah media wing in Syria confirmed that over 60 buses, carrying the displaced civilians, had arrived in the city of Aleppo. According to the source, the civilians were transferred to the temporary residence center in the area of Jibreen.

The evacuation of the civilians and NDF fighters from al-Fu’ah and Kafriya is a part of an agreement among Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), Iran and the Damascus government. The agreement was reached earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the HTS-linked news network Iba’a announced that the NDF released five of its fighters, who were captured during previous battle. Furthermore, hundreds of convicts, who were released by the Damascus government, had arrived in the northern governorate of Idlib.

In the upcoming hours, the last batch of civilians and NDF fighters will be evacuated from of the two besieged towns. HTS will also release dozens of women and children, who were captured by its fighters during Idlib offensive in 2015.
