Late on February 27, the Tiger Forces and the Republican Guard advanced in the Hawsh ad Dawahirah area in Damascus’ Eastern Ghouta and captured a number of buildings and an underground tunnels network there. According to pro-government sources, militants suffered “notable” casualties in the area. However, no exact number was provided.
On February 28, a second humanitarian pause entered into force in Eastern Ghouta allowing civilians to leave the rea through opened humanitarian corridors.
On February 26, the Russian Defense Ministry introduced daily humanitarian pauses from 09:00 to 14:00 local time starting from February 27. However, the February 27 pause was sabotaged by militants whom shelled the opened corridors.

To be honest I’m not noticing any real change from the previous map. If any, I notice that the area of Nashabiyah which in the previous map was marked as having fallen to the Syrian government forces is now being shown as again being under the terrorists while all the adjacent areas are now being shown as contested. Can you please explain?
Perhaps Nashabiyah is the first of a lot of soon sieged urban pockets, but, if now the map is correct, yes, that information was missing. Thanks for the exercise of looking maps, but look again. For example, in Harasta more at least 200 meters, to south of the vehicules manutention. On south east and half of the east, the progress it’s much more clear.
I don’t see too much changes in the map either. I know urban war is not easy an this case is even more complicated by Putin orders, fight in Russia Embassy hours. This will cause more casualties and takes a lot longer.

SAA is doing well. Latest reports indicate that Al-Shifouniyah is contested at this moment. I suspect that soon we’ll see another example of Russian military traditions regarding dealing with cauldrons – dissect it into smaller pockets and eliminate each isolated piece one by one.

I know that in your comment you refer to soviet manuals of maneuver warfare; nonetheless, nowadays, commanders must have the utmost flexibility in their approach, because technology, organization and experience give them many means to solve the same tactical problem.
Soviet doctrine called for tactical tasks going down the chain of command, it was a centralized way of disseminating orders that worked well for a certain period and situation.
It seems to me that Russia has learnt a lot about modern warfare in these years, and we are seeing this knowledge applied to the Syrian theater.

Petolucem actually made this map before they finished in the region, so don’t get your panties in a bunch. Haven’t found anything to support Petolucem’s new map , but have heard Pechora Air defense base is captured it’s between Shufinyah and Utayah on the east side.
About 10% of pocket in two days, not bad going!!!
