Mozambican government forces have recaptured the district of Muidumbe, where ISIS-linked militants beheaded at least 50 people earlier this month.

The horrifying attack, which took place in Muatide village, was first reported by the state media on November 9. The militants drove the village’s locals to a football pitch before beginning the executions. A number of women and children were reportedly abducted.

Muidumbe is located in the northeastern province of Cabo Delgado, where a multi-billion gas project is under construction.

Mozambican Police General Commander Bernardino Rafael confirmed on November 19 that Mudiumbe had been recaptured. The commander said 16 militants were killed in the operation.

“We marched and arrived in Muidumbe district headquarters, we expelled those who had occupied it,” he said in footage broadcast by state broadcaster TVM. “Congratulations to our brave men … what we achieved up to now is not a victory, we achieved one step of our work.”

The commander added that the militants should stop the violence and engage in talks with the government, which is open to dialogue.

The situation in Cabo Delgado remains tense. Mozambican government forces are working to push the militants, who occupy the port town of Mocimboa da Paria, away from Mueda town.

ISIS seem to be particulary fond of doing their executions at football stadiums.

In the coming years Africa will be a bread basket and everyone will want a piece. Hence the reason nato’s little helpers are in there early.

” Africa will be a bread basket ”

Zimbabwe style or South African style ?

Does the good general not know you can’t talk to these people, they have to be liquidated, they say Isis,i am not so sure, the Government spent years fighting foreign backed terrorists, they could be anyone.

It’s just for public consumption. I know a (now retired) Indian army officer who was ordered to capture a particular militant leader in Kashmir by any means. He put a notice in the papers: “So and so (whatever the name of the man was, I don’t remember) is informed that he is wanted for terrorist activities and is directed to report immediately to the military authorities at (relevant army base) for investigation.”

Needless to say he did not get his man.

Enough said.

Most of the investors involved are from Western companies + China. I suspect either Turkey or Saudi Arabia are making moves to secure their energy resources.

Yes, that should have been bolded, italicised, and underlined in the article.

USA has spread ISIS in many nations since they created it in Afghanistan

A statement of ‘stop the violence and open to talks’ sends the wrong message…. Unless you’re in a position of absolute authority and power over the militants, long and short term.

Don’t gloat like what the Nigerian military does every time they end an operation, only to have themselves kicked back to square one.
