Something very strange is happening in the White House.
On December 12, a White House National Security Council spokesperson said that the US administration thinks “the Russian declarations of ISIS’ defeat are premature”.
“We have repeatedly seen in recent history that a premature declaration of victory was followed by a failure to consolidate military gains, stabilize the situation, and create the conditions that prevent terrorists from reemerging,” Reuters quoted the statement.
On the same day, US President Donald Trump has declared a victory over ISIS saying that the US has won against the terrorist group in Syria and Iraq.
“We’ve won in Syria, we’ve won in Iraq, but they spread to other areas and we’re getting them as fast as they spread,” Trump said Tuesday at the White House during a ceremony to sign defense policy legislation.
Probably, the US president needs a bit more of coordination with statements of his spokespersons.
Or maybe there are two different terrorist groups known as ISIS? The first was defated by the US and the second one was not defeated by Russia. This would explan all.

The contradictory US official statements are due to fact, that despite whatever hollow political rhetoric Trump happens to currently claim about US defeating ISIS, for the Pentagon’s upper echelon Neo-Cons, the ‘war on terror’ in middle east must simply never end – it remains the entire tactical, public marketing, rationale for their ongoing strategic, aggressive, interventions for regional compliance and hegemony.
I wonder if Trump is saying this to please his base as well as a means of attempting to pull the plug on those in government who want to remain in Syria by removing the ISIS “excuse”?
