On September 7, President Donald Trump said that he had canceled a secreet meeting wuth Taliban leaders over the recent attack in the Afghan capital in Kabul.
According to Trump, Taliban leaders were to travel to the Camp David base in the US for secret peace talks this weekend but that the meeting has been canceled and he’s called off peace talks with the group entirely.
….only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?

Inviting Taliban leaders onto American soil is an unprecedented move. The US invaded Afghanistan and overthrew the Taliban government in 2001 under a pretext that the group had given safe haven to the al-Qaeda network to plan the attacks on the US.

President Trump’s reaction to the recent developments in Afghanistan could be described as a logical step. However, it is unlikely that it will change anything. Without a large-scale deployment of troops and equipment, the US does have little chances to change the military situation in the war-torn country where the US-backed government continues to lose ground.
The Taliban in fact mimicked Trump’s approach towards negotiations. The group is pressuring another side with all the means it has to gain the best deal.
