Most of the so called “experts” on the www belittle Iran’s defense capabilities, but this drone incident and other incidents before indicate something else. They disregard without the use of the discerning mind such hints as point to the contrary.
At the very least Iran has a mix of a small number of very capable Russian long and short range SAMs and a great number of “home-improved” versions of older NATO systems, as also an unknown number of homemade systems of unknown capabilities but probably not entirely useless.
Unlike the Syrian Army, which had been in a state of rotting for ca. 3 decades for reasons of political apathy, the Persians have been building and preparing for said number of decades (although the war with Iraq and the revolution before that drained heavily upon the recources strenuously).
