In response to the impeachment proceedings, US President Donald Trump began his own campaign of accusing the whistleblower and House Intelligence Chairman and Democrat Adam Schiff of misrepresenting the truth.
In a video, Trump specifically says his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was “perfect,” and the whistleblower said something completely different.
He then accused Adam Schiff of making up Trump’s words. Because of the call with Zelensky being so perfect.
He further accused the Democrats of harassing him because the Republicans and his administration were looking into massive corruption that the Democratic party was allegedly guilty of.
According to Trump, Schiff having nothing to quote from it, the US Senator allegedly made up fake statements and presented them as having come from the US President.
The video is from the swearing in ceremony of Secretary of Labor Eugene Scalia.
“The call was perfect,” Trump told reporters. “When the whistleblower reported this, he made it sound terrible.”
He further said, “Adam Schiff made up a phony call. He read it to Congress. He read it to the people of the United States. And it’s a disgrace. This whole thing is a disgrace.”
Trump accused Schiff of something quite severe. He said that the Democrat “illegally made up a FAKE & terrible statement, pretended it to be mine as the most important part of my call to the Ukrainian President, and read it aloud to Congress and the American people.”
“It bore NO relationship to what I said on the call,” Trump added. “Arrest for Treason?”
Trump has maintained that he would like to know the identity of the whistleblower and the information provided was fake.
The whistleblower was deemed as having acted in “good faith” by acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire.
On Twitter, Trump cited Pastor Robert Jeffress who said that if Trump were impeached, it would result in a “Civil war like fracture” in the US.

Jeffress is a pastor in Dallas, who responded to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s claim that hat impeachment marks a “very sad time for our country,” one that requires Americans being “somber” and “prayerful.”
In response Jeffress said that Christians have “never” been “more angry over any issue than this attempt to illegitimately remove this president from office, overturn the 2016 election and negate the votes of millions of evangelicals in the process.”
“That’s the unpardonable sin for which the Democrats will never forgive him,” Jeffress said. “And I do want to make this prediction this morning: If the Democrats are successful in removing the president from office, I’m afraid it will cause a civil war-like fracture in this nation from which this country will never heal.”
Separately, Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani was subpoenaed. Three chairmen of key House of Representatives committees – Intelligence, Foreign Affairs and Oversight – sent the subpoena notice.
In their subpoena letter, the chairmen said:
“In addition to this stark admission, you stated more recently that you are in possession of evidence – in the form of text messages, phone records, and other communications – indicating that you were not acting alone and that other Trump Administration officials may have been involved in this scheme.”
The chairmen have demanded all relevant communications be submitted by October 15th. Giuliani did say he wouldn’t cooperate with Adam Schiff.
Notably, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was subpoenaed regarding the case as well. He had apparently listened in on the call between Trump and Zelensky.
“Pursuant to the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry, we are hereby transmitting a subpoena that compels you to produce the documents set forth in the accompanying schedule by October 4, 2019,” the chairmen of the House Foreign Affairs, Intelligence and Oversight committees wrote in a letter to Pompeo.
“The subpoenaed documents shall be part of the impeachment inquiry and shared among the Committees,” wrote Reps. Adam Schiff, Eliot Engel and Elijah Cummings. “Your failure or refusal to comply with the subpoena shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House’s impeachment inquiry.”
Others who have allegedly taken part in exerting pressure on the Ukrainian government include the US Envoy to Ukraine Kurt Volker resigned on September 28th. He is to potentially testify on October 3rd, judging by reports.
The whistleblower complaint alleges that the pressure on Ukraine spans a somewhat long term, and didn’t simply start with a conversation on July 25th, 2019.
