Trump's Claims About 'Rapid' Withdrawal Of Troops From Syria Appear To Be PR Move

The U.S. has no timeline to withdraw its forces from Syria but does not plan to stay in the war-torn country indefinitely, a senior official in the Department of State told the Reuters news agency on January 5.

“We have no timeline for our military forces to withdraw from Syria … It will be done in such a way that we and our allies and partners maintain pressure on ISIS throughout and we do not open up any vacuums for terrorists,” the official, who asked not to be identified, said.

Several U.S. officials told Reuters that the withdrawal from Syria could take several months. However, a senior administration official traveling with White House national security adviser John Bolton on a trip to the Middle East said U.S. military commander has assured U.S. President Donald Trump that their mission against ISIS “can be done in weeks.”

Meanwhile, other U.S. officials revealed to Reuters that a pre-scheduled conference for the counties participating in the US-led coalition have become a part of ongoing “damage control efforts” following Trump’s decision to withdraw troops from Syria.

Ministers from around 79 countries are expected to attend the upcoming conference, which will be held in Washington on February 7.

“This [Trump’s withdrawal announcement] was a slap-dash, individual decision … This is nothing more than damage limitation,” a Pentagon official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

Some describe these developments as an example of the ongoing efforts in the Department of State and the Pentagon to manipulate Trump’s decision in order to keep American forces in Syria as long as possible. Many in Washington apparently believe that the withdrawal from Syria will weaken the U.S. influence in the Middle East and empower Russia and Iran.

More ‘fake news’ from Trump. Imbecile.

so

It’s really just the US government destroying itself from the inside out. The end of these immoral acts will only end when the corrupt US government (my government) is ended from within (by its own people). Its becoming more unlikely that Trump will win reelection, especially as he can’t follow through with any of his campaign promises. Spending trillions on the military/police and nothing on the welfare of its citizens is not a good plan for the future. The grid lock between the rich and every one else will continue until it doesn’t.

Promitheas Apollonious

it is maybe time to realize that no matter who win the elections nothing is ever going to change in the western system? Beside of course getting worst by the day.

Jens Holm

No change is impossible. Democrasy is build for needed changes during time by free speech as it goes and election by voting.

Hard to explain for people, which not even know the vital parts of it – and what we had before.

Pave Way IV

U.S. citizens will only understand once they’re looking out at their country from behind a federal detention camp barbed wire fence (without their iPhones or internet access). That’s when all the crying will start about how unfair it all is and “How did we allow this happen?” Even then, many still won’t get it.

When they get out, they will once again believe the western democracy fantasy that ‘the law’ and ‘voting’ have magic powers to fix everything, even though both have been corrupted specifically to prevent that. Trust the plan!

John

Bingo Pave. :)

Jens Holm

Its mainly not like that. We compare with other systems and see our results are better knowing ours is not the best i all matters and perfect as You assume we think.

Telling that 327 mio inhabitants in unification is a detension camp is to comapred with fx 327 mio found in ME and sourroundings. Here You not even have any unity and make wars to each other. They do have internal and external problems, but compared to You, they are very unified.

Thats why I also prefare EU from what it was before that in WW2 and 1.

How many socalled unified states goes for ME: Turkey, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Saudi, Bahrein, Qatar, Kuwaut, Oman Yemen, UAE, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and splitups in them as well.

I choose USA and EU.

I have not counted how many You actuelle are in ME.

Pave Way IV

I am a U.S. citizen, Jens – I live here, not in the Middle East. Sorry – I don’t understand ‘327 mio’

And the ‘western democracy’ government I expect here is one that answers to its people, and cannot be so easily and thoroughly usurped by psychopaths, oligarchs, neocons and foreign interests. The Italian Partisans ended up airing out their government leaders from the local gas station roof to take care of such problems. I’m hoping it doesn’t get to that point here in the U.S., but we got plenty of suitable gas stations and rope. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d3fd3a7607022684bcf200760852603f37d1fc41459cb794a6da08bfc6a94d3c.png

viktor ziv

Democracy was born in antique Athene, where women had no right to vote and 40,000 talking tools (slaves) as well. Bad seed from the beginning. :(

Jens Holm

And before that ?

seawolf

That is true.

so

Their not elections. They are appointments made by the evil rich to further the agenda of the evil rich. When my countrymen understand this only then can we dismiss the idea that we actually live in a Democracy. Its more like a serfdom.

Promitheas Apollonious

but that is the result of living in a democracy my friend. What they teach you democracy means and what actually is, are two different things all together. Democracy always been and will be the first step, or the cornet stone to the NWO. So stop hearing to words and see the actual results of all countries they claim they walking on democratic roads how they begin and where they end up. Then you get the drift.

jako

Too much talk about 2000 Americans. Sooner or later they will eventually leave. They can go nicely or to be forced by force, the result will be the same, weather they want that or not.

Promitheas Apollonious

One question whose going to force them out? Both from syria and iraq? Beside they dont need more foot soldiers on the ground since they have the convenient whores in the kurdish population on the ground and not only.

jako

Local Arab tribes will not put up forever with the Kurd occupation. Kurds are 10% of Syrian population dispersed all over the Syria. Huge chunk of the territory Kurds control now is Arab majority territory. There are still plenty of hidden weapons around and all it would take is spark to start everything. With additional backing from Assad they can make lot of troubles for Yankees and their stooges. It is always more difficult to control occupied territory and keep the peace and calm among the population than to invade it…. Not single dollar was invested in destroyed Raqqah or anywhere else… People live like animals.

Promitheas Apollonious

the spark been given many times none nourish it to become a fire. Now the sparks are dying very fast and permanently. Internet have teach the sheep always to expect someone else to fight and die for their freedom, rather getting up from their asses and do what need to be done. So pussy crying is the acceptable to them that replace always actually doing something about what they pussy cry.

I dont think the russians will allow Assad to do that is been proven every time he try and they stop him.

sad but true.

jako

I don’t see them very much “internet vise” after 7 years of war and no water and electricity. When they get hungry with no jobs to feed the family that might create a true “spark” that ignites Time will only tell us where the truth lays.

Promitheas Apollonious

you be surprised what humans when they try to survive can shallow and put up with. I seen it so many times first hand and I know. To understand must experience it personally, other wise all is theoretical and very abstract in peoples mind and the way they judge it.

jako

I agree “humans when they try to survive” can “put up with” many incredible things… and than crack over nothing also….

There is no straight line inside human nature… Nobody can tell what are we made of unless tested by real life situations. Many are much more cowards than they pretend to be. And many are much more heroic than they could have imagined. It is very often that situations create heroes or cowards, defeatist’s or fighters not vice verse…. Only historic personalities create their own destiny… others just participate and accept what is manifested.

Promitheas Apollonious

agree.

Jens Holm

The usual memory lack. The reasons for we are beingb there was to remove or replace Assads with anythong else – but not Jihadisme.

Kurds was not even in one single sentence, but of course You are learned memorylack as if that could give You more Nobel prices.

Kurds didnt attack Assads. They liberated their own part of Syria given support for it by locals from ISIS. You might not like it.

But any other can see, that Assads gave 0 prority for those areas of Syria even they were and are main sources for primitive oil and gas fields vital for the Baath party.

Jens Holm

Its easy, You remove the reasons for they are there in the first place.

As long as any proposal for that is denied and Assads and Baathist and Jihadism is the only possibilities, there will be as it was.

You decide – Well You dont. The private owners in Damskus do it for You, because You as sheep do not and nopt are allowed to know better.

And of course You as usual too bame some 1,9 mio kurds for, what 17,1 mio. other Syrians do. Prygelknape is the the german word for it. The english ones might be scapegoat.

John

Dude, can you run that by me again?!?!?!?

Tommy Jensen

The only thing Pentagon is concerned about is their own budget and area of influence.

What will happen is that Pentagon´s “Allies” will take over the endless war scheme in Syria and Pentagon will lead from behind. Trump will save American money and lives, and the crybabies in Pentagon and their liberal lackeys will make endless furious articles and books about stupid Trump and America´s (their own) “loss of influence”.

Putin and Trump have same problem. A heavy self serving bureaucracy.

Jens Holm

Whats wrong in producing, so You are safe and have food everhy day. My economy is that even its unarmed.

USA has need for internal changed even I dont see Trump has any good solutions even he pin point where some changes has to be made.

The bureaucrasy in USA is not heavy. The problem is it serves some of the main problems very bad mainly because its too small and dont take well care of the potentials – which is the poor and parts of the middle class. In stead they are depended in cheep labour from Cariabians as well as they dont upgrade the vital parts.

The states mainly do much better. You seemes to ignore they are 327 mio. inhitants and very much of USA is not washington.

You again and again also think, that Syria is the center of the world. Trumps dont think so. You hardly are a hole in a broken football. He is elected for internal reasons only, can destroy but seemes not able to renew and rebild spiret as well as buildings for it.

Dirt to compare Putin and Trump. USA is a world leading country in high productivity and can change from there.

It seemes the land of the many KGB Oligarks has no potential for that at all. But it could be done. China is a good example having hard communism as religion as well as sekular productivity.

John

Jens, it is good to see you back in action!!!!

Promitheas Apollonious

No sh*t Sherlock.

Master Oroko

I still think he might do it, but we’ll see…

John Whitehot

you know things are happening when there’s so much butthurtism among zionists.

not that i’m 100% sure that it will really happen, but the whining and the sound of wallheadbanging were never so intense of late.

John Whitehot

“the official, who asked not to be identified”

Keep up the good journalism, Reuters.

Rob

Is there any bigger terrorist state than US? From where these modern weapons come with ISIS, Al-Qaeda and bokoharam? Many questions arise on WashIngton regime.

jako

“Is there any bigger terrorist state than US?”

Yes there are few at least as good as…. U.K. They only have much, much lesser capabilities and much less resources (than U.S.) to show potential of their wickedness…. So they shouldn’t be underestimated…

Saudi Arabia A vicious limp dick and disgrace, a would be leader of Muslim world. The 1st assistant in huge project of demonizing of every Muslim called “War on Terror” .Project of permanent war, created by Jewnited States on 9/11.

And there is also absolute champion of all villains and U.S. Master and Commander = Israel.

jorge

As in Vietnam, monday we will go, tuesday we will not go, wednesday we will discut the matter of going or not going, and in the end we will get a Nobel prize. Lol.

Drogba

The empire of chaos is falling apart, clinging on to their crazy wars for israhell.

Jens Holm

I dont see that. It has tools for self repair and will be helped by the rest o´f the western economies. We own them too being stockjolders there as well as they are here.

Jens Holm

Its very easy from here. I dont rely in his words but only what actually happens – as well as possible. I have filters for all.

In his may dark moments, which are many, I even would prefare Hillary. You could rely on not to like her or many would hate her in a very stabile way.

Garga

I guess you’re trying to say “actions speak louder than words”?

How very unusual to read something wise from you.

All the more reason to suspect something bad happened to Jens and you overtook his account? Unless you have some revelations periodically, like Solomon did!

Jerry Wayne Carver

If the US would regard Russia as a friend instead of a competitor then she would be happy to see Russia do well instead of always seeking to undermine her.

Jens Holm

Thats goes both ways. And old joke says in Russia all are Kamrats and friends are, what we choose ourselves.

RedBaron9495

Go screw yourself….you useless Danish prick!

Barba_Papa

I wouldn’t call the withdrawal a PR move by Trump, more like the Pentagon sets its own foreign policy, regardless of the executive, trying to stretch its orders out as creatively as possible. So not only does the US foreign secretary have no say over whatever the fuck the Pentagon does, the president itself only has limited say. Banana republic much?

so

Agree. After the 2008 financial scams I thought the majority of citizens would get it by now. However the BS propaganda and corruption keeps piling up and I don’t know how what it will take to break. The final straw is coming, I just don’t know when it will be pulled. The government is beyond dysfunctional.

BL

Yep and meanwhile thousands of people are still living in tents months after this season’s hurricanes with no help in sight.

Zionism = EVIL

Well, the Turkeys are doing the Zionist bidding in the region now too as the WSJ article clearly identifies, They want the Americunts and Turkeys to carve up Syria and also Iraq.

John McClain

Amen to that, dead on target. Semper Fi, John McClain Vanceboro, NC, USA

Zionism = EVIL

Actually, the Pentagon is the Zionist war lobby and it has no intention of withdrawing from Syria unless forced too. The Turks are pushing for more Americunt involvement as the wall street journal article today states. The Turkish scum have a weak military and their goal is partition of Syria and control of its fertile northern lands and water resources. But the Turkeys are cowards with a third rate military and can not do in alone.

John

Hmmmmm, let us step back and look around the corner on this one. Does the US military and DoS really want to stay in Syria. I think the answer is no.

The US military has been boxed in now. All of it’s proxies have been either wiped out or severely contained. In addition, US forces are themselves being put at ever increasing risk. Just like Israel, the legend is more important than the facts. Despite what has been ‘leaked’, I think the DoD wants the hell out of Syria.

Now for the diplomats. The Department of State is one snobby and arrogant creature indeed. For way too long it has lived in a fairytale envelop of confidence. Now, who takes them seriously? It’s all one way with them and that cat has long ago left it’s bag. I am seriously wondering if they don’t also want out of dodge as quickly as possible, though it would never be admitted to the light of day.

President Trump presents an excellent opportunity to shed blame. Both the DoD and DoS can easily, almost effortlessly, put it all on the Donald. My bet is, that the withdrawal and it’s circumstances are going exactly the way they like it. I wish well to all.

Ray Douglas

The writer seems to be of the opinion that Trump is a plenipotentary. Nothing could be further from the truth.

RichardD

Trump is trying to overhaul the US government bureaucracy to remove Jew world order permanent war state sycophants and replace them with America First people who will put America First ahead of Jews, their collaborators, and Israel, and he’s meeting a lot of resistance. He’s also meeting a lot of resistance to getting out of Syria.

My view is that every Russian/Syrian failure to take down IAF fighters attacking Syria at will with impunity when they have the opportunity to do so, after the capabilities were put in place to do that, makes Trump’s job exponentially more difficult. As Israeli air supremacy over Russia, and these failures fuel the Jew world order war monger’s assault against not just Syria, but their prime targets, which are Russia and China.

The more that Russia allows the Jews attack, the more that they will ramp up the international anti Russia campaign that they’ve put into overdrive with Trump’s election on an America First platform that was, and to an extent still is, fundamentally anti Jew world order.

Jens Holm

So is the backside of the moon green cheese or not :)

RichardD

“According to one public opinion survey conducted in 1991, for example, most Russians wanted all Jews to leave the country.4 But precisely why is anti-Jewish sentiment so widespread among the peoples of the former Soviet Union? Why do so many Russians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians and others blame “the Jews” for so much misfortune?

A Taboo Subject Although officially Jews have never made up more than five percent of the country’s total population,5 they played a highly disproportionate and probably decisive role in the infant Bolshevik regime, effectively dominating the Soviet government during its early years. Soviet historians, along with most of their colleagues in the West, for decades preferred to ignore this subject. The facts, though, cannot be denied.

With the notable exception of Lenin (Vladimir Ulyanov), most of the leading Communists who took control of Russia in 1917-20 were Jews. Leon Trotsky (Lev Bronstein) headed the Red Army and, for a time, was chief of Soviet foreign affairs. Yakov Sverdlov (Solomon) was both the Bolshevik party’s executive secretary and — as chairman of the Central Executive Committee — head of the Soviet government. Grigori Zinoviev (Radomyslsky) headed the Communist International (Comintern), the central agency for spreading revolution in foreign countries. Other prominent Jews included press commissar Karl Radek (Sobelsohn), foreign affairs commissar Maxim Litvinov (Wallach), Lev Kamenev (Rosenfeld) and Moisei Uritsky.6

Lenin himself was of mostly Russian and Kalmuck ancestry, but he was also one-quarter Jewish. His maternal grandfather, Israel (Alexander) Blank, was a Ukrainian Jew”

Lenin would have qualified for Israeli citizenship as a Jew:

The Law of Return (Hebrew: חֹוק הַשְׁבוּת‬, ḥok ha-shvūt) is an Israeli law, passed on 5 July 1950, which gives Jews the right to come and live in Israel and to gain Israeli citizenship. …

In 1970, the right of entry and settlement was extended to people with one Jewish grandparent and a person who is married to a Jew”

As a child I use to read comics about “cowboys and Indians” and “The Great White Chief” was always breaking his deals with “Indians”, so they were talking about “pale face with snake tongue”. I would like to see Mr trump to slap every face that stand against him and say: “You’re fired!”

Ray Douglas

Obviously some people didn’t listen to Trump’s election spechspe.
